Who We Are
Makin Engineers is a firm of Chartered Engineers primarily concerned with the design and
application of appropriate technology in the procurement of civil works for rural, industrial and
urban development. The firm was established in 1994 and registered under the Nigeria business
Act code 1990. Makin Engineers provides specialized services in the area of rural, urban and
industrial water supply through boreholes and spring/surface water (small dam e.t.c)
development, Geotechnical Investigation for; Roads and Bridges, Buildings, Dams Canals,

Equipment location/mast footings etc. We also undertake Design, supervision and construction of
Bridges, Buildings, Towers, Roads (including pavement condition and structural component
assessment survey) and Quality control of civil engineering projects for both public and private
sectors.

Our Team Makeup

Our Team consists of Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Technicians of remarkable
experience who have extensively participated as team member in the design and construction of;
Roads, Bridges, Buildings, PHNC Installation and many sustainable water works and
geotechnical services in Nigeria. Their experience spans, through governmental and
nongovernmental projects including World Bank assisted projects.

Our Mode of Operation

We specialize in the overall planning, design, implementation, control and co-ordination of a
project from inception to completion aimed at meeting the clients requirements by ensuring timely
completion within control cost and quality standards.
Professional Services Offered

We offer services in the following areas:

Planning, Design and supervision of road projects (New alignment and improvement of
existing paved/ unpaved roads), bridge and building renovation and construction.
Drainage and erosion control.

Project Consulting/ Project Management

Ours is not just the theory of project management but in-depth experience and expertise in
handling and delivery of your desire. The preparations of tenders that demand high technical and
cost effective are handled by our team of engineers and financial consultants. We took pride in
our past and ongoing construction and supervision of roads, buildings, towers, etc. executed for
both private and public organizations.
Makin Engineers employs a construction management concept in which time and cost control
effectiveness are the key component in the direct management of construction process. This
control is carried out within the desired levels of quality and quantity requirements of the projects
including value engineering and life cycle costing.

Geotechnical/ Foundation Engineering Services

Our geotechnical engineering division is equipped with serviceable Percussion boring rig, Pelican
wayfarer Standard Penetration Test Equipment (SPT), CPT equipment, Light Weight German
Dynamic Cone Penetration equipment (DCP), Wash boring equipment, good laboratory and
necessary software for Laboratory analysis and reporting. The division has handled various sub
soil investigation projects covering Multi-storey buildings, Bridges, Road Foundations, Factory
Buildings, Dams, Pipeline route survey, Mast locations, Jetties, Platforms in coastal areas,
Canals, Dykes, PHCN Substations etc. Our experience on this spans over the last two (2)
decades doing business with corporate private and public organizations, Federal and State
Governments, Religious organizations and Engineering Consultants.
 Water Resources and Environmental Engineering

Drilling, re-activation and maintenance of water borehole, laying of pipes and irrigation works,
design and construction of ground and overhead tanks and reservoirs had been executed for
years by Makin Engineers. Landfill design & construction, solid waste and wastewater
management, pollution and EIA studies, contaminated site assessment and reclamation works,

erosion controls all form part of the works undertaken by our team of Engineers.
Hydrology/hydraulic analysis design of hydraulic structures are carried with use of modern
technology equipment and software. We are equipped with modern rotary boring rigs and
compressors, geophysical survey terrameter, theodolites, total station, ArcGIS software, etc.

A Professor of Civil Engineering from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, with
over 35years of professional experience. He is a scholar, a team leader
and a material engineering specialist. He had variously served as head of
the Civil Engineering Department of Kwara State Polytechnic
and Unilorin and equally a Dean of the Faculty of Engineering,
University of Ilorin.

He is an associate /deputy project director at Yolas Consultants. He

has been involved in erosion control projects, subsoil investigation,
evaluation of works and cost estimates, condition survey of site,
preparation of construction works including development of road safety
measures. He is always available to Makin Engineers to render his
wealth of experience in the practice of civil engineering when sort for. He
is currently a Non-executive Director at Makin Engineers whose
willingness and assistance on technical and professional issues has
been so rich and embraced by us.

ENGR. AKINOLA ITIAFA DANIEL

COREN, MNSE, M.Eng (CIVIL ENG)

PROJECT MANAGER (STRUCTURAL)

He is a Civil Engineer by training with over 12years experience. He

started career with Harrods Construction Limited, Lagos, where he was
fully involved in all construction works and supervision of precast piles,
bored piles, jetty and other shoreline protection, some of these projects
includes the Silverbird galleria in Port-Harcourt, sheet piles for ASCON
shoreline protection Kiri Kiri, Apapa, Lagos.

He joined B-Marok Construction Ltd, Lagos and was part of the teams
that designed and constructed the Union Bank in Orile and Access Bank
at Okota Branch of Lagos State. His role as Head of Project Planning
Unit at Planet Projects Limited Lagos contributed to the success of the
organization. Among the projects he handled include; Akure priority Bus
Scheme (APBS): Construction of 29 bus shelters, 4 bus terminals, 8 lay-
bys and a bus depot along the Oba Adesida/Oyemekun road corridor,
Port Harcourt City Bus Terminals (PHCBT): Construction of Mega Bus
Terminal at Eleme under the Port Harcourt City Bus Service (PHCBS)
Project, Lokoja Mega Terminal: Construction of Mega Bus Terminal at
Felele, Lokoja. Kogi State, Resuscitation of the Lagos Island Municipal
Transport Services, Construction of 30 Bus Shelters, 4 bus Terminals in
Delta State and Junction Improvement works in Delta State.

His technical experience was brought to Makin engineers to handle

technical related issues. Presently he is the Technical Director at Makin
Engineers. Itiafa is a project manager with vast experience in Structural
building and pile designs, geotechnical investigation, Supervision and
rehabilitation of building and waterworks.He is computer literate with
proficiency in Microsoft Office software, AutoCAD 2D, Orion R15, etc.

PROJECT DIRECTOR (GEOTECHNICAL/MATERIAL)

He is a dynamic and experienced Civil Engineer whose professional

trainings and experience have spans over 10years in geotechnics, water Page | 6
resources, hydraulics, highway/transportation, structural and project
management. His experience in building and road constructions started
with Rotel Construction, Lagos and Namak Construction Limited,
Osogbo respectively.

He had been with Makin Engineers for over 7years and has built upon
the legacy set by the demised Managing Director (Engr. Matthew M.
Akinola). His technical experience coupled with his active roles and
diligences paved him way to become the firms project director &
coordinator.

He is versatile in Design and construction of sustainable water supply

schemes for rural and urban areas, Drainage and Erosion control,
Geotechnical investigation for Dams, Bridges, Building Structures, Road
foundations, Equipment/mast locations e.t.c, Insitu pile construction,
Structural design of buildings and bridges, Hydraulics and hydrological
studies of Highway Bridges, Dam break studies and analysis, Dam
break inundation mapping, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and
Project Management.

Part of the project he supervised include; supervision of construction of

100m3 of EWT and 300m3 of pressed steel water storage facilities for
College of Health Sciences Unilorin, design and supervision of kanbi
water supply schemes, renovation and construction of Asa dam internal
road networks, reinstatement of UnilorinOyun bridge etc.

He is proficient in the use of computer modeling and design applications

like AutoCAD 2D and 3D, Revit, CivilCAD, Orion 16, HEC RAS,
Microsoft packages, etc.

He is Graduate of Physics Electronics with special interest in computer
hardware and software. He has over 8years experience in software
engineering.

He joined Makin Engineers from Jaymz Computech Limited an I.T firm

He founded and grows in Abuja, Nigeria. He brought his valuable
experience to Makin Engineers in directing and solving software related
issues through the development of applications that are special to our
