Carl Zeiss lenses are created with high quality optics that produce great vision for a
patient. The same goes for Crizal lenses. However, the key thing to keep in mind is
that the output of a prescription is more so dependent on the doctors prescription,
which will have a larger inuence on the clarity of your vision. Crizal lenses have are
known for their great varity of premium coatings that they embed onto their lenses.

Esther Yeh has already given a great answer. What I can add is that most patients
won't notice the dierence too. Doctors who have seen hundreds of patients may
choose one over the other based upon their own experience and the reactions of
patients. Since each patient reacts to glasses and even medications separate from
another, it is dicult to generalize whether one pair of glasses is better than the other.

In summary, both are excellent and both will give you good vision. If there are
dierences, it would be almost undetectable.

Steven - excellent question, but really, the answer isnt complete unless you consider
the lens product itself, not just the over-arching brand. I work fairly closely with
Essilor, the maker of Crizal, and I also prescribed Crizal as an OD, so I can speak well
for their products.

Personally, I wear Crizal Prevencia only, simply because I only need computer glasses
and so it makes sense to have a blue light blocking lens. Prevencia has been show to
decrease harmful blue light by 20% and the lens has an Eye-Sun Protection Factor (E-
SPF) of 25, which is pretty darn good.

The study they did supports lots of the science behind it. I wrote a bunch about it
when I was seeing patients as an optometrist, in this article - Everything to Know

Specically, take a look at the part where I talk about the inverse-square law, I think
thats the most interesting part of the article!

Crizal is the coating that comes on an Essilor lens. Teon clear coat is what you will
get on a Carl Zeiss lens.
I've dispensed both and our Zeiss/Teon tends to last longer with fewer problems.
I've worn both and I have had less scratches after a time with the Zeiss lenses.

What's important here that hasn't been mentioned yet is the care in cleaning you
provide the lenses. Either coatings will fail you if you wipe them when dry. You must
use an approved cleaner, hopefully an alcohol free spray and use minimal wiping lest
you grind in the dust. No paper products either. Microber or cotton.

The only lenses you can tell the dierence between, sometimes, are very cheap, low
quality lenses and proper optical quality alternatives. Coatings can also make a
dierence in some lighting conditions. Getting anti reective coating on any lens will
do more for you than spending extra money on various premium brand lenses.

Caveat: In case of very high myopia, and once you get into the very high index lenses
to keep them relatively thin, some brands do outperform others.

This is more of a personal choice. Both brands are of high reputed and oers you high
quality lenses. Crizal is popularly used with anti-reective coating. These almost
invisible lenses are extremely durable, scratch resistant, and very easy to clean.

Carl Zeiss lenses are with the superb colour, brightness and clarity. Your spectacles

DP coated Individual lens from Carl Zeiss is the best, Note that i have used both, Some
where the website of CZ says that it comes with 2 year warranty where as Crizal
coating is less than an year. I have had problems with Crizal as the dealer (Shiva vision
care) whisked me away despite having bill saying the warranty was less in both cases
as the coating went bad with Crzal within 9 months and CZ went bad by 1 year 8
months. Its always better to go to authorized dealers than the Crap local eye shops.

First of all, Crizal is not a spectacle lens. It is an anti reective technology that is
applied to a spectacle lens to keep glare and light reections to a minimum. I think
that Crizal is an excellent choice. There are basic to ultra premium choices in the
Crizal family. Carl Zeiss certainly has their share of premium products also. Unlike
Crizal, Zeiss is a complete line of lenses and other optical products. Crizal is under
the Essilor umbrella. Whichever you decide to go with, just make sure you get a good
warranty with it. Because no matter what you get, you can always get a bad product
for dierent reasons. No matter how good the overall product is. And always go to a
reputable retailer.

Crizal lenses have 99.2% transmission of light which is the best in the world. Also they
have an additional back surface UV lter not oered by any other lens as yet, not even
Zeiss. That makes crizal coating the most eective and best performing lens coating

If you are talking specically of non-glare lenses, they are comparable. The labs I
always worked with were Essilor labs so Crizal was used and it is a wonderful
product. I understand that Zeiss products are very good as well. Essilor Crizal has a
great warranty. I'm not familiar with the Zeiss warranty.
