FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Austin Harig is currently pursuing the appointment to the Park District seat of the Buffalo
School Board. Though he hasnt submitted a formal application yet, he has reached out to the
Buffalo School Board with a letter of interest and intent to apply to the seat. Currently, he is
gathering letters of recommendation from the people of South Buffalo to have a comprehensive
and complete application. He is looking forward to the process of the appointment and is looking
forward to working with the Buffalo School Board to accomplish feats previously thought
unimaginable within the current system. He looks forward to representing all South Buffalonians
and making the City of Buffalo a better place for everyone and desires to put our school system
on the path to being one that is admired across the nation. Austin understands the school
system through having experienced it himself, and feels his position on the Board will be one of
advocating for those who do not have a voice. Austin has been around many different walks of
life in his youth, having grown up in a multi-cultural and accepting city and hopes to bring a
perspective to the Buffalo Board of Education that will be helpful to everyone in the city. He
hopes to fight for all parents, children, and educators side by side in making the City of Buffalo a
better place for all future generations.

From Austins words:

I am seeking the appointment to the Park District Seat to work for the students and parents of
Buffalo. I want to bring a perspective to the education system that focuses on everyone and
uses real and straightforward policy to make the education system one in which students can
enjoy going to school, can learn valuable trades that will assist them in careers, and have
understanding support staff sensitive of the different issues that face many students as they
grow up. I want to make this system one in which parents can actively engage educators about
the needs of their children and one in which educators have the time to focus on and nurture the
needs of all of these individuals. I want to work to tackle the core issues of the urban school
system, with special attention to poverty and absenteeism, as well as work education. My
focuses will be on boosting our attendance rates, first, as I duly believe that getting kids into
school is the first step in boosting the graduation rate to an acceptable level. I hope to work with
the Buffalo Board of Education, led by Dr.Babara Seals-Nevergold, to make this city and its
future a better place for all.
