August Eclipse Events!

WNY STEM was part of history when we joined
in Eclipse-A-Rama at the Buffalo and Erie
County Public Library, and co-sponsored the
Family Viewing Eclipse event presented by the
Niagara Falls School district on August 21.
Dr. David Hilmey, a WNY STEM advisory board
member and the dean of arts and sciences at
SBU kicked off the meeting. Dr. Xiaoning Zhang
(xzhang@sbu.edu) and Evelyn Sabina, Dream
It, Do It organizer for Cattaraugus County,
(esabina1@gmail.com) both presented and are
the designated Southern Tier liaisons for this
effort. Early discussions included developing a
regional, shareable calendar of related events
and activities, an inventory of all STEM/STEAM
programs, and initial planning of the STEM Skills
Gap Forum to be held at Alfred State this fall.
If you were unable to attend the gathering and
youre from the target area, please reach out to
Xiaoning or Evelyn for more information.
