Jaime Cabaero was born on August 10, 1950 at Cagsao, Calabanga, Camarines Sur. He is the
youngest child among the 8 children. He was only able to finish grade 6. He went to Cagsao Elementary
School (grades 1-4) and Sibubo Elementary School (grades 5-6). He is currently a fisherman and takes
care of pigs and carabaos.
Salvacion Cabaero y Vargas was born on February 26, 1961 at Cagsao, Calabanga, Camarines
Sur. She was also only able to finish grade 6. She went to Cagsao Elementary School (grades 1-4) and
Sibubo Elementary School (grades 5-6). She is currently a housewife; but when there are available root
crops, she sells them for extra income.
Jaime was 25 when he first laid eyes on Salvacion, then aged 15. He was on vacation from his
work in Manila when they met in Cagsao, Calabanga, Camarines Sur. As a tradition, the man should give
a dowry to the womans parents if he wishes to marry her. There was already someone who gave
Salvacions parents a dowry; and as a result, Jaime paid that man as reimbursement for the dowry he gave
to the family. He later gave his own dowry to Salvacions parents and the two tied the knot on June 7,
1975. In their 41 years of marriage, they were blessed with 14 lovely children. Their names were:
Jamecar, Janer, Julie, Jina, Jerol, Jinkie, Jason, Joven, Jeba, Jaime, Jr., Jemuel, Jessa, Jamaica, and
Jenebie.
Jamecar, the eldest daughter, now has her own family with several children. Along with her
husband, they own a parlor shop and a canteen.
Janet, the second daughter, also has her own family. She currently lives in Cavite with husband
and children. Her husband works in an airport.
Julie, the third daughter, is a caretaker in Naga City. She is also married.
Jina, the fourth daughter, is a housewife. She currently lives with her family in Sibubo, a
neighboring barangay.
Jerol, the eldest son, is a road construction worker in Naga. He specializes in mixing asphalt.
Jinkie, the fifth daughter, is also a housewife with two children. She lives in Albay.
Jason, the second son, is also a road construction worker in Naga. He works in the same company
as his older brother Jerol.
Jaime, Jr. aka Jeboy, the fourth son, is also a road construction worker along with his brothers
Jerol and Jason.
Jemuel, the fifth son, is also a house helper in Manila. He and his brother Joben work under the
same employer.
Jenebie, the youngest child, is a grade 4 student at Cagsao Elementary School. When she grows
up, she wants to be a policewoman.
Before the assistance of the Bahay Atenista Program, they used to live at Zone 4 along with their
14 children. Their previous house was located along the road. When they had the opportunity of being a
recipient of the benefits of the Bahay Atenista Program, they received a house near the one they are
currently living in. Due to certain circumstances, they switched houses with the previous residents of the
house they now own. The house is now their property and they were able to improve it.
After the assistance, their house got damaged by a typhoon. They were the ones who repaired and
improved the house. They extended the house and added a kitchen and 2 bathrooms. From a coco lumber
roof, they were able to upgrade it to a semi-concrete one. Because of the upgrade, they do not face any
problems during typhoons water does not enter their house and their roof does not leak. There are no
major damages inside and outside the house, but there are unfinished parts. The only damage was the
bathroom doorknob.
The familys dream is to have a stable financial source so that they can finally have the money
they need to finish the construction of their house. They also want to have extra income to help those who
are in need. Their lives are simple but they are content with and thankful of what they have now.
