Application process
You may apply in one of two ways:
The application form can be completed and sent, by post to the University; or
The electronic application form can be submitted to the University electronically via the following
link:
http://www.nwu.ac.za/pc/undergraduate-and-honours-admin
Please provide us with full particulars of your proposed field of study
(for example, BCom Marketing Management or BA Humanities).
Application fee:
Fees can be paid electronically.
If the prospective student does not possess a student number, the reference A + the students ID
number should be used.
If the prospective student does possess a university / student number, the reference A + the student
number should be used.

Accommodation Deposit
Refundable application fee of R500.00 (should you not gain a place in residence, or should you no
longer be coming to residence)
2 ID-size photographs
We require a certificate of conduct, an academic record, as well as a financial report indicating that
all your liabilities towards the institution have been met, as issued by the registrar of the tertiary
institution where you were registered.
An application for the recognition of modules must be accompanied by a syllabus of the relevant course.
Important Notice
1 No applications will be processed or considered if any of the above-mentioned
documents do not accompany the application form.
2 All documents must be certified by a commissioner of oaths, lawyer or university official
3 The relevant faculty, school or unit may require additional information
4 The allocation of a university number does not necessarily mean that your application
has been approved

Selection courses:
The closing date for the application of admission to the 2017 selection courses is 30 June 2016.
Students are encouraged to apply as speedily as possible, preferably before 31 May 2016.
The selection courses consist of preliminary selection bases on minimum admission requirements of module
requirements as well as the APS score achieved.. Successful candidates will then be subjected to a
selection tests and, in some cases, a selection interview.
Medium of instruction:
The language of instruction for fulltime studies is Afrikaans, unless indicated otherwise. Take note of the
different faculty rules regarding the evaluation of each students language proficiency.
NB: The North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus) will, in the implementation of its functional language
plan, also take into account the linguistic realities of the country, and regards the different languages
spoken by stakeholders of the University as one of its assets.
