Why choose Seimpi School of Musics MIM Course?

Music training enhances brain function. Studies have shown that early experiences of
childhood determine how well brain cells (neurons) will connect with other brain cells.
Because neuron connections are responsible for all types of intelligence, studies also show
that a childs brain develops to its full potential with exposure to the necessary music
enriching experiences. If stimulated during early childhood, these neuron connectors
develop rapidly, we are thus looking at ways to develop the whole brain.
Our Music for the Intelligent Mind (MIM) programs aim to do just that. With a carefully
planned syllabus, we gradually guide students from a tender age of 4 months to the age of
7 to explore the richness and excitement of music through interesting play, activities and
musical games. Unlike other early childhood music courses which only emphasize listening
and music movement, we also incorporate eye and ear training, speed reading, pitch
training, memorizing techniques, concentration training, proper keyboard playing
techniques and music theory. All our activities involve stimulating the inter-connectivity
between the two hemispheres of the brain by engaging in holistic and all-rounded music
training. MIM provides a seamless transition into music graded studies.

MUSIC FOR THE INTELLIGENT MIND (MIM) COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

MIM for INFANTS

Course Description & Benefits :

This course aims to use music to enhance cognitive and intellectual skills of infants. With
carefully selected song materials, infants will benefit from an improvement in awareness in
sound, speech and reflex. The combination of sight and sound in our teaching will stimulate
the inter-neuron connections that are so vital in the first year of a babys life.

Activities include: vocal development activities with single vowel singing, singing the
appropriate songs suitable for infants, flashcard training, music and movement, and early
visual and aural training.

Infants will be introduced and exposed to various sounds, pitch, rhythm and movement
through songs and rhymes, so as to develop and sharpen his/her auditory memory and
perception. This will help lay the foundation for the infants subsequent, rhythmic skills and
aural skills development when the baby is more able to vocalize. In the MIM unique
approach to establish early music literacy, the early exposure to visual aids will also help
stimulate and enhance visual recognition of musical symbols and notes, thus smoothen out
the process in gaining full knowledge of gaining the ability to read music scores in the
future.

MIM for NURSERY

Course Description & Benefits :

From conception, children are able to learn quickly and easily but will gradually lose this
ability as they grow older -- unless positively stimulated through simple learning techniques.
This "window of opportunity" to easily develop whole-brain capabilities is open until about
age 7.

MIM for NURSERY aims to stimulate and tickle the music brain of children 3 and 4 years old
with colourful flashcards, educational toys, percussion instruments, glockenspiel/xylophone
or keyboards and other interesting teaching aids.

It cultivates children's musical talent, exposing them to the sounds of different instruments,
encourages keyboard playing, early note reading, rhythmic training, aural training,
concentration training, memory training- photographic and audio, recognition of keys and
relative pitch training. This early exposure helps them tremendously in their future path in
becoming a fine musician.

History & Profile of Seimpi School of Music & Seimpi Academy

Seimpi School of Music was set up in Singapore in the year of 2002. The School was bold in
taking their first steps in the music education industry by introducing their own curriculum,
which was rare at that time: the highly successful early childhood music course, The Music
for the Intelligent Mind (MIM).
This course mainly teaches children from 4 month-olds to 7 year olds. It has since gained
great popularity in Singapore with its uniqueness and unconventional style of music
teaching that focuses on all rounded and holistic formal music training in early childhood.

In 2011, it became the first ever local early childhood music course to be formally
recognized by London College of Music Examinations (LCME), University of West London.
The School has also since produced more than 95% distinction holders of the LCME-MIM
Assessment which started in the same year. On top of that, the Music for the Intelligent Mind
(MIM) has been accepted and adopted by around 70 selected childcares and
kindergartens in Singapore. It also ventured to Malaysia in 2012, gradually gaining
popularity among parents and licensees in the country. This year Seimpi has made its foray
into Indonesia, and so far the childcares and international schools which adopt MIM as
their music courses provider have gradually picked up.

Seimpi School of Music operates 3 branches in Singapore at the moment, in Funan Digitalife
Mall, Loyang Point and Hougang Mall respectively. We are currently also providing MIM
courses in childcares. Most of Cherie Hearts Childcare centres, PCF Hampton, PAP
Community Foundation Childcare Centres, Kindie Winkie, Brightkids, Educa, Brain Buttons,
Caelum Junior, Greenfield Montessori, Life Childcare, Sheffield Childcares, Sasco, Kidz
Castle, .....are among the many childcares who adopt MIM courses.

Due to the highly popular MIM course, the School's principal, Ms Flora Lim has also been
invited to appear on TV on several occasions talking about MIM courses, namely on Ch 8
morning shows, evening news and Money Week on Ch U, 'Being A Child in Channel News
Asia and Parenting show in FM97.2. MIM courses were also featured in several interviews
and write ups in Malaysia's newspaper, namely the China Press, New Straits Time and Berita
Harian.

To cater to the many MIM graduates' request to further their music studies. Seimpi's own
professional music training course for young talents, the SMARTTM program was started 8
years ago. It has since produced a group of young musicians who not only excel in their
music exams, but also winning prizes in several competitions locally and overseas. The most
recent one is the success of SMARTTM student, Fong Jean Ying, emerged as the first prize
winner in the under 10 year old category in the Steinway Piano Competition in Singapore.

About Seimpi Academy

Due to the increasing requests from music and early childhood teachers for professional
music training, a training arm of the School, Seimpi Academy was set up at the end of 2011.
It again created a history by being the first to write the teaching course and exam syllabus
of 3 diplomas in Early Childhood Music.
These 3 diplomas are accredited and run by London College of Music Examinations as their
dipLCM, ALCM and LLCM in Teaching (Early Childhood Music). Besides these diplomas,
Seimpi Academy also recently launched their performance diplomas and their lecturers
have given masterclasses for students in some secondary schools like Crescent Girls'
Secondary School and Raffles Institution.
