Ethical Practices of Technology Usage

Ethical practice in technology protects the way we share information across the internet.

The internet is a platform for research to obtain information promptly. The week discussion for

week three review principles for technology. Educational media prepares students to use

technology in teaching. There is no such thing as traditional learning in education due to the

exposure of technology. The learning outcome in compliance to week three assignment is PLO 5

Exemplify ethical practices of technology usage in teaching with technology. The revision to

an assignment in a prior course using Coursesites.

Near the beginning of the program, a part of the program requirement enlists the creation

of Coursesites. Coursesites is a learning platform through Blackboard a virtual learning

environment. Blackboard is a course management to support learning fundamentally. The

teacher creates lessons and interacts with students in an online classroom. The name of the

course is Classroom Management DKN-07. The revision to reflect PLO 5 is module one social

presence assignment. Module one goal for the to teach adult learners to manage their classroom

successfully. The key to managing the classroom is establishing rules to redirect negative

behavior.

Module one social presence assignment encourages students to create a class blog. The

blog is a way to expose students to social media in education. Social media if used correctly can

become a motivating tool for learning. Lenz noted, We are a community of learners: Building a

supportive learning environment (Lenz, 2007). With that said, we never stop learning, and we

learn from each other. The original assignment requires the student to explore a theorist who

influences education. The revision to the assignment focuses on design and instruction using

social media.

The focus in the revision is the way students use images on the blog. The instructions in

the blog initially only provided instructions to create the blog. The change entails relevant

information before creating the blog. The students were given the assignment without alerting

them to copyright laws. The update provides a brief paragraph on blogging and what the blog

may include.

The instructional design for the revision focus on the ADDIE Model for instructional

designers. The instructional design organization suggests, The five phases-Analysis, Design,

Development, Implementation, and Evaluation-represent a dynamic, flexible guideline for

building effective training and performance support tools

(http://www.instructionaldesign.org.models/addie.html). In the analysis phase of the model list

the goals and objective of the assignment. The purpose of the revised assignment is to create an

educational blog. The learning environment for this design is through Blackboard the delivery

option. The audience in this assignment is the students who are enrolled in DKN-07.

In the design stage of the model reemphasize the learning objective. The aim is to choose

a behavioral theorist from the module. Students will create a blog with a biography of the

theorist and a picture. Students must list a theory from the theorist and personal reflections from

classroom experiences. The students are asking to include visual design with a picture of the

theorist. The revision to the assignment provides three facts about copyright laws. The

development stage of the model integrates technology. The integration of technology and apply it

to the task just as the blog.

The implementation phase of the model is training the learner how to use the tool.

Blackboard is fully functioning, and students can click on each module to access the assignment.

The revision includes a short video on how to create a blog. The blogging tool of choice is

Weebly because it is free and easy to use. The evaluation phase of the model is the assessment

portion of the module. This part of the instructional design is where formative and summative

assessment occurs. The formative assessment in the model is the weekly assignments including

the revision to module one social presence assignment. The change to the module is a

copyright/plagiarism test. The test serves to offer feedback to the students on the knowledge of

copyright and plagiarism.

Concluding with the fact that instructional design is imperative to teaching technology.

The revision to module one in the previous course required that we create a Coursesites. The

online classroom includes modules for adult learners who desire to teach Early Childhood

education. Copyright laws prohibit the use of people works without giving credit to the original

author. The use of other people works and not giving credit is plagiarism. The ADDIE model is

an important instructional design to create the online classroom. Effectively following this

design ensures that learners get the best learning experience. This instructional design also

ensures that I cover all the basis for establishing learning opportunities for my future students.
