INTRODUCTION:
THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE INTENDED AS AN AID TO QUALIFIED, LICENSED
SERVICE PERSONNEL FOR PROPER INSTALLATION, ADJUSTMENT AND OPERATION
OF THE UNIT. READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING
INSTALLATION OR OPERATION.

UNIT UNPACKING & INSPECTION:


Upon receiving the unit, inspect it for any damage from shipment. Claims for damage,
either shipping or concealed, should be filed immediately with the shipping
company. Check the unit model number , electrical characteristic and accessories to
determine if they are correct.

INSPECT THE SITE & COMPLETE SYSTEM REQUIREMENT:


Locate the unit where supply and return air ducts can be connected to the unit
easily.

Provide sufficient space around the unit (minimum 3 feet for Access panels and 1
foot for other sides.) for piping, wiring, servicing/maintenance.

Be sure that the roof / ceiling can support the unit weight (if the unit is decided to
mount on roof/ceiling).

Position the unit in such way that water should not block inside the unit or in front
of the coil. Make provisions for condensate drainage.

Do proper conduitting from drain outlet of the unit to soak pit to avoid
drippage.

Detail installation method depends on building construction and local building


codes.

INSPECT THE SITE :


These units are designed for outdoor installation.They can be mount on a slab or
rooftop. They are not to be installed where condenser air flow is restricted. Since
the application of the unit is outdoor type, it is important to consult the local
building code authorities for installation.
Locate the unit where operating sounds will not disturb owner or neighbors.
The location of the unit should be such that to provide proper access for
inspection and servicing.

Recommended unit clearance: The following minimum clearance should be


provided for proper unit performance.

EQUIPMENT PROTECTION FROM ENVIRONMENT
The metal parts of the unit may be subjected to rust or deterioration in adverse environment
conditions. This oxidation could shorten the equipments useful life. Salt spray, fog or mist
in seacoast areas, sulphur or chlorine from lawn watering systems and various chemical
contaminants from industries such as paper mills and petroleum refineries are especially
corrosive.

If the unit is to be installed in an area where contaminants are likely to be a problem, special
attention should be given to the equipment location and exposure.

UNIT MOUNTING:
ON THE GROUND ; Select a location where external water drainage cannot collect around the
unit. Provide a level concrete pad as shown in the figure below. To prevent transmission of
noise or vibration, pad should not be connected to the building structure.

Locate unit so roof runoff water does not pour directly on the unit. Provide gutter or other
shielding at the roof level. Do not locate the unit where excessive snow drifting may occur or
accumulate. 1150mm

ON THE ROOF : Before locating the unit on the roof, make sure that the strength of the roof and
beams is adequate at that point, to support the weight involved. This is very important and users
responsibility.
Provisions for disposing of condensate water runoff must be provided.
The unit should be placed on a solid and level frame or platform.
Note : If the unit will not to be put into service immediately, cover supply and return openings to
prevent excessive condensation.

INSTALLATION OF DUCT CONNECTIONS :


1. Connect the duct connections to unit supply and return air duct flanges.

2. Refer to fig.3 for unit supply and return duct connection sizes and locations.

3. Flanges are provided on the units for rectangular duct connections.

4. Install field supplied filters in the return air duct.

5. Don't run the unit without filter on return air side.

6. Avoid abnormal duct size increases & reductions.It can adversely affects air performance.
7. Use always flexible canvas connections between supply air duct and the unit to avoid
transmission of vibration.
8. Do the proper duct sizing for air quantity (L/s or cfm) recommended at various static.
9. All ducting which are passing through non air-conditioned spaces should be weather
proof& insulated with recommended density of Insulation material.

10.All ducts should be secured properly to building structure. All opening should be sealed
properly to avoid any air leakage or condensation.

PROPER CONDENSATE DISPOSAL:


1. The method for condensate water disposal should be as per local codes, restrictions and practices.

2. Use 25.4mm (1") ID rubber hose to connect with GI nipple of unit to dispose the condensate water
from unit to termination point.

3. Condensate drain pipe should be terminated near to recommended drain trap or soak pits.

4. While installing the unit make sure that drain slopes should be away from the unit.

5. In case the termination point or drain trap far away from unit, install a 50 mm (2") trap using
a field supplied clamp at the condensate connection to ensure proper drainage.

6. Ensure that the outlet of drain trap should be min. 25mm (1") at lower level than the unit drain pan
condensate connection to avoid the over flowing of condensate water as shown in fig.4.

7. Drain tube should be connected to min. of 25.4 mm (1 inch.) OD copper tubing,22.2 mm (7/8 inch)
galvanized pipe or 22.2 mm (7/8 in.) plastic pipe without under sizing the tube.

COMMISIONING OF ELECTRICAL WIRES & POWER CABLES

1. Field wiring should be done as per national fire, safety and electric codes.

2. Ensure that the voltage should be within 10% of rated voltage on unit as operation of
unit at improper voltage may cause unit damage which could affect warranty.

3. For recommended fuse sizes and draw amps. Please refer the electrical data table.

4. Install a branch circuit Disconnect /isolator of adequate size to handle starting


current as per local code.

5. Provide separate isolator for unit & electrical heater circuit.

4. Ensure that the isolators are easily accessible from the unit.

5. Connect the power cables to unit from isolator through the holes provided in
the electrical panel of unit.

6. Use copper wires only.

7. Connect the ground lead to the ground lug to avoid any electrical shock.

10. Please refer the fig.05 for power cable wiring.

11. Route all control wires (24Volt) separately through the knock-out holes (as
shown in fig.06 ) provided in the electrical panel of unit.

12. Extend the leads to unit control wiring terminal board in unit control panel.
Connect all control leads to low voltage side of transformer.

HEAT PUMP: During winter season when the room and ambient temperature is
low and uncomfortable ,heat pump mode can be selected by the room thermostat.

DEFROST CONTROLLER: Heat pump unit is equipped with electronic

Defrost controller which monitor and minimize the frosting of outdoor coil . Defrost
occurs automatically at pre-set temperature and time intervals. During defrost cycle
heating and indoor fan operation suspended for few minutes and once the defrost
cycle is completed heating and fan resume its operation.

CONDENSATE DRAIN
Clean condensate drain trap with help of bottle brush then flush the
condensate pan with clean water.Ensure that the water should drain freely.

EVAPORATOR BLOWER ASSEMBLY


Blower wheel should be centered in blower housing as shown in fig-07.
To adjust or remove follow the below steps:

Remove the all sheet metal screws holding the orifice ring.
Remove the motor mounting assembly bolts.
Slide out complete blower ,motor & orifice ring assembly.
To clean the blower housing assembly use a brush , warm water and
detergent. Do not splash the water on motor.

CONDENSER FAN ASSEMBLY


Remove the fan motor assembly follow below steps.
Disconnect the power.
Remove screws holding fan guard to top panel.
Disconnect fan motor leads from from motor.
Lift complete top panel with fan motor assembly.
Remove screws of arms holding the motor with top-panel
Replace the fan motor assembly & reconnect.

SERVICING OF THE UNIT
Before installing or servicing unit, turn off main power to system. There may be more than
one disconnect / isolator switch Turn off accessory heater power if applicable. Electric shock
can cause personal injury.

UNIT SAFETY DEVICES


Internal current and temperature sensitive over load-This Device resets automatically when
internal compressor motor temperature drops to a safe level. When an internal overload is
suspected of being open, check by using an ohmmeter or continuity tester.

REFRIGERANT CHARGING
Unit refrigerant system is factory charged. When recharging is necessary, weigh the total
charge indicated on unit nameplate. Remove any refrigerant remaining in system before
recharging. If system has lost complete charge, evacuate the system to 0.72 kPa (5000
microns,29.7 -in. Hg Vacuum) before recharging are available at refrigeration supply firms.

REMOVAL OF COMPRESSOR
First wear safety glasses and work gloves.

Shut off power to the unit and remove compressor access panel to expose compressor.

Remove / purge out refrigerant from the unit using approved refrigerant removal methods.

Remove the core from suction and discharge line Schrader fittings ( Pin valve ).

Disconnect compressor ,HPS,LPS and crank case heater wiring at compressor terminal box.

Use tube cutter to cut suction and discharge lines at convenient place near compressor for
Easy reassembly to new compressor with copper slip couplings (if provided). Or de braze
Suction and discharge tube.

Muffler ,liquid receiver and tubes may contain quantity of oil, so be careful while removing
them, if oil vapour in piping /stubs ignites use quenching cloth to extinguish

Remove the compressor holding bolts and lift the compressor up and pull outward.

Install a new compressor in unit. Braze suction and discharge lines to compressor
suction & discharge pipes.
Ensure compressor holding bolts are in place, connect compressor, HPS, LPS & CCH wiring.

Clean the system . Add new suction and liquid line filter driers. If compressor burnt out is
Severe then new filter driers must be replaced after a few hours of operation.

Flush with high pressure nitrogen to clean the system & avoid any moisture in the system
Evacuate the system by following tripple evacuation method.

Recharge the system with R22 as per the amount of refrigerant shown on the units name
plate and if the interconnecting tubes are more than 25 feet, follow guidelines /chart for
interconnecting piping and refrigerant charge on page10.

RETURN AIR FILTER (FIELD SUPPLIED)

Replace disposable filter 4 times a year.

Clean permanent filter minimum quarterly or as required.

Flush permanent filter with hot water, steam or soak in mild solution of
soap or detergent and water.

Dry the filter properly then replace it.

For other type of filters please refer the manufacturers instructions.

CONDENSER COIL

Inspect condenser coil regularly.Clean it properly if found dirty or clogged.

A dirty or clogged coil may cause increase in operating cost due to Increase
in power consumption & lead to burn out or failure of compressor at
premature stage.

The condenser coil should be cleaned with brush,vacuum cleaner or low


pressure water (non salted).

Don't use industrial strength fluids for cleaning coils.

In case multiple row coil, remove the top cover for accessing the coil &
wash out with normal pressure water.

Be careful while cleaning the coils as coil fins are sharp.

Use hand gloves for cleaning or handling the coil to prevent injury.
