I Believe Life is Poetry

I believe poetry goes beyond quill and ink, and that the way poetry is defined by the

books is limited to words typed on a piece of paper. Poetry is an art form of human expression

that allows you to place a part of yourself into a piece of something, to engrave your essence into

the world, and express your inner self. It is art, which can be a set of things, and the way you

express it is your path to walk. Poets like Ottmar Liebert recite their verses from a lounge to a

concert hall, his poems with no words are sung by the strings of his guitar, or like Bebo Valds,

who made a whole continent dance to the rhythm of his piano, inspiring musicians from around

the world, and without saying a word, but just speaking with his heart. Martha Graham chose the

path of waving her silhouette alongside a metronome, but you can follow her example by tuning

your voice and singing, like Andrea Bocelli. Other poets can choose a brush over a quill, and

decide to declaim their soul in a gallery, like Salvador Dal, coloring phrases on a canvas,

molding shapes, shades and whispers.

People are capable of shaping marble, and manipulating wood to craft their thoughts onto

materials. After looking upon his completed work, Il Mos (The Moses), Michelangelo was

astonished because it had reached human perfection, and was famously quoted for saying

Perch non parli!?! which translates to Why dont you talk to me?! This quote was important

because it defined that art goes beyond mortal bounds, and becomes divine in a human plane.
Michelangelo can be compared with a character in several religious texts that refers to a being

that created life to resemble itself, as he gave life to sculptures to resemble the human form

through the poetry of art.

Life itself inspires me; nature and humanity are muses to my actions, and I have turned

my ship in their direction. Poetry is dynamically inspired by life. Nature and its five kingdoms

have inspired me to develop myself and look for its sustainability, to take care of it using the

knowledge Im gathering, and achieving my goal of becoming a mechanical engineer, because

through this career Ill have the proper skills and tools to develop technologies for natures

sustainability, this way my actions will become verses for natures joy. Humanity has inspired

me with its beautiful diversity, its skin and cultural nuances, to accept and love their unique

characteristics, inspiring me to engrave my thoughts with ink or binary codes.

I believe that if I dont express myself and let that inspiration be materialized, I am

extraditing myself from humanity, and as Abraham Maslow said A musician must make music,

an artist must paint, [and] a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself. The

same way we create, we also sculpt ourselves and become the canvas, or the marble, honoring

the inspiration that made composers like Erik Satie write his Gymnopdies, dedicating such

master pieces to the human anatomy. In this way, I am a poet, and the path I choose to walk is

my poem. Life is my muse, and I will take what inspiration I can in order to express myself, and

be human.
