The Ampac Orbis range of conventional fire detectors incorporates state-of-the-art technology designed to deliver the
fastest response times in the event of incipient fire whilst reducing the risk of unwanted alarms.
A suite of patents and “worlds first” accompany this range of detectors:
 StartUp™ - facilitates fast commissioning
 DustDefy™ - ultra modern housing that limits ingress of dirt into the chamber
 DirtAlert™ - a warning system incorporating drift compensation technology
 FasTest® - reduces the time it takes to test a detector
 SensAlert® - provides indication when detector becomes faulty
 TimeSaver Base® - designed for fast installation and cable termination

The range includes:
 Heat type detector

> LX – allows Orbis detector to be fitted to Apollo Series 60/65 base
> Diode – when active End-Of-Line (EOL) devices are required
> Relay – relay is energised when detector LED is active
The ionisation type detector is not available in the Orbis range for 2 (two) main reasons:
1. Due to the nature of ionisation detectors, they are more sensitive to phenomena that cause unwanted alarms than
photo optical detectors
2. Ionisation detectors use a tiny radioactive foil. Although they are entirely safe to use, ionisation detectors are
subject to strict regulations concerning transport, storage and disposal. Thus it is becoming increasingly difficult to
use them.
