About me

Hello

Welcome to my digital teaching portfolio. My name is Modjadji Pelusa, I am 23

years old. I am coming from Morutsi, Limpopo province. I was started Morutsi
primary school from grade R to grade 7 and after that I went to Semarela
secondary school from 2009 until 2015 when I complete my matric. Now am
currently doing my first year at Tshwane University of Technology, Soshanguve
North campus under the faculty of humanities, general subjects (BEEDS3). My
intention is to complete my degree in a record time.
WHY DID I CHOOSE TO BECOME A TEACHER?

I choose to become a teacher because I want to make a difference. I realize that

teaching is a profession that can be supremely, exhausting, but I know in my heart
that the benefit of teaching outweigh more times over. While there are many
fields which I could accomplish this goal, I feel that education is the one in which I
can have the greatest impact. Every day, children around the world are being told
that they are not good enough, or that they just cannot achieve their goals. As a
student teacher, I feel I have a positive platform from which to dispel that fallacy.
I want to highlight the strengths that makes me passionate, efficient and useful
addition to any teaching team. I am patience, understanding, compassion and
enthusiasm, all things that I am more than willing to provide on a daily basis. I
realized a teacher is the mother of the nation.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
REWARDS AND DISCIPLINE:

Discipline is the most important in the classroom. In terms of rewards and

discipline, both should be used sparingly and only to further a students
understanding of the positive or negative consequences of his/her actions. Giving
rewards in elementary in school should consist of things the students really want
and can strive for. The rewards should be given in front of the class, so that the
behavior is positively reinforced. So that contrastingly, discipline should never
been done in front of the entire class.
MY FIRST TEACHING PRACTICE EXPERIENCE.

I have enjoyed a lot during my teaching practice and gained more confidence
about being a teacher. I have experienced more on how to cooperate with
colleagues and how to treat learners with respect and also to understand
learners needs. I am now proud to become a teacher to deal with different
learners. I am also gained more knowledge on how to manage the classroom and
a good approach to learners. I am now being to stand on front of people because I
have gained a lot of confidence from my teaching experience.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
I believe in treating all learners with respect and dignity and I will treat them
according to their needs. And I will give all students every opportunity to succeed
on their own terms. I will be fairness, whether this shows through the
implementation of classroom management techniques or in grading methods, all
student will be treated fairly. I want to be able to know my students strengths,
weakness, likes, dislikes as best as I can, so that I may help them to grow. I will
apply student-centered, constructivist learning, where learners are given
opportunity for their own learning. I believe to in positive approach of behaviour
management-an approach based on positive reinforcement, recognition and
rewards as opposed to negativity and punishment.

THE PLANNINGS FOR TEACHING.

My plans is to give students a say in what should be learned. This shared control
approach gives students a voice in the classroom and makes them feel more
comfortable in their environment. I believe in extra-curricular activities and field
trips. They provide students with an excellent opportunity to learn skills which are
not always possible to teach within a classroom. I will prefer group work. It is the
perfect method for fostering life-long skills which are transferable to everyday
life. I am also going to teach cross-curricular lessons. I will implement goal
orientated lessons. If a lesson does not have a specific objective, what am I trying
to teach?. I believe in positivity. No matter what life throws at me, inside the
classroom or out?

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES.
As I likes participating in sports, I like playing netball so I will let my learners
opportunity to participate on sports and also to compete with other schools. I will
do so to help learners who have low self-confidence to gain more self-esteem as I
am now. Learners will be able to communicate with one another during sports
time. I have realized it is important in schools to have different sports so that all
learners will able to choose where to participate and it will build learners body
fits, healthy and their mind will be functioning well.
