CHURCH NEW YEAR: It is important to note that the Church New Year begins on Thursday September 14th. The new cycle of feasts begin for the new year. For Orthodox Christians it was a time of thanksgiving, remembering the good weather and abundant rain the Lord provided for that years harvest, something we pray for at every Divine Liturgy. The Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos is the first Great Feast of the year, while her Dormition or falling asleep is the last. The Church Year or Ecclesiastical New Year serves as the crux for our entire liturgical life each and every year. We say goodbye to the old and welcome the new. We give thanks for what the Lord has done, and petition his loving kindness and protection for the days yet to come. So pop open your favorite drink and bring your petitions to the Lord as this is the new start of a new year. PATRONAL FEAST DAY CELEBRATION: On Thursday, September 21st, the Feast Day of The Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, our parish family will celebrate our Patronal Feast Day. Everyone is cordially invited to attend the Divine Liturgy at 10 AM and then after the Liturgy join us for a delicious luncheon. This year His Eminence Archbishop Michael wont be here as he will be with us in October to celebrate Father John and Matushka Ludmilas 40th Wedding Anniversary and Fr. Johns ordination to the Holy Diaconate. We will have guest clergy join us for the festivities on this day so please make an effort to be with us. If any one would like to help defray the cost of the luncheon on this day please see Matushka Ludmila at the candle desk to help out. CHURCH SCHOOL CLASSES: We as a parish would like to again begin Church School Classes beginning on the Second Sunday of October, October 8th. Once the classes are finalized we will let you know what the Theme will be this year. We would hope that you will make an effort to join us on Sunday Morning beginning at 9:15 AM to learn about your orthodox faith and grow in the Lords vineyard. PARISH COUNCIL MEETING: Now that the summer is over it is time to get back to work. The Parish Council will meet on Sunday, September 10th after the Divine Liturgy in Church. Parish Council members are requested to be in attendance. UPDATE ON WALL RENOVATION: As is evident the wall project is almost complete. We have to wait at least thirty days for the cement to cure and then we will proceed with the railings. We are hoping that this project will be complete in time for His Eminence Archbishop Michaels visit in October. SAVE THE DATE: On the weekend of October 28th and 29th we will welcome His Eminence the Most Reverend Archbishop Michael to celebrate the 40th Wedding Anniversary of the Very Reverend Archpriest John Prokopiuk and Matushka Ludmila and Fr. Johns ordination to the Holy Diaconate. Please make an effort to reserve this weekend on your calendars and join us to celebrate this wonderful occasion.
