DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

What is domestic violence? In general terms, domestic violence is any physical (attack the person's body), economic (the
aggressor exert presion through the economic resources), and psychological (the aggressors try to exert pressure through
attitudes) aggression on a man or a woman by her partner. Psychological profile of the aggressor provides features
psychological manifesting the aggressor in his conduct, and Psychological profile of the aggrieved woman provides features
psychological manifesting the aggrieved woman when you suffer domestic violence. Domestic violence can be seen from
different perspectives, due to that there are many factors that affect it. You can see an aggrieved woman by domestic violence
through some signs that present in their conduct; the women can be generated at battered women syndrome, disease very
common in women that domestic violence affects them.

Aggrieved women tend to follow the some behavior for example: She is socially isolated, the woman feels ashamed of the
situation, and she feels guilty for having been aggrieved, in this instance there is the risk of drug addiction as aid to support the
aggression by your partner. The aggrieved woman accepts the male superiority, and she thinks that it is dependent on the man
in the economically and sentimentally. In addition there is the fear that man would take reprisals against her or their children in
the event they have children in the relationship. The aggrieved women feels failed as a woman, wife and mother.

There are factors that can determine the womens violence for example in the psychological field; women who generally have
low self-esteem are abused since they think it's their fault the situation of aggression. The aggressor has a family history of
aggression (or is that probably his father has assaulted it him) or low tolerance to frustration. The social context in which
woman and men are can considerably influences in the attitudes of the aggressor and the aggrieved woman, so that the social
influence can develop violent behaviors.

For this reason many organizations around the world have generated policies which protect the
integrity - physical and psychological - of the woman. The United Nations Organization, resulted in
a "Declaration on the Elimination of violence against women", in this document the UN intended
to generate a political as well as social protection to all women worldwide. In addition the UN
supports and advises Governments to generate such policies in order to generate an awareness of
prevention, however, this organization focuses on promoting the change of consciousness in men
and boys, in order to inculcate respect for the female gender. In our country "El Servicio Nacional
de la Mujer" (SERNAM) has generated campaigns repudiating violence against women, in order to
reduce and eliminate the rate of femicides, which has been generated over the years.

On its web site, "El Servicio Nacional de la Mujer" (SERNAM) defines the Femicide as a murder
which is committed by the spouse or partner of the woman against this. To reduce the rate of
femicides have generated various campaigns to prevent and motivate women to report any type
of abuse against his person. On the web site of the SERNAM, we can found campaigns in which
some famous people on the chilean television appear with the aim to take attention, that either
can be men or women. These campaigns have been using slogans that have changed over the
years, as for example in the year 2011 was used the slogan "Maricon el que maltrata a una mujer,"
and in the year 2012 was used the slogan "Estoy comprometid@ no + violencia en el pololeo"

The United Nations (UN) campaigns have also been launched in our country to accomplish the
main goal of this organization, which is to eradicate violence against women. Thus, the SERNAM
took the initiative of women in the United Nations campaign "Orange day".
According to the SERNAM in 2009, 53 women were murdered by their current partners, and between the years 2007 and 2009,
93%* of the women killed had emotional bond with his murderer, 41%* of the aggressors also attempts to suicide or suicide
after murdering his partner, this can be explained by the feeling of guilt or remorse. Other statistical data points out that
between the years 2007 and 2009 73%*of femicides did not have previous allegations of domestic violence, which indicates as
the aggrieved women are afraid of attempt against their children or their physical integrity women. According to the SERNAM
39%* of femicides SERNAM was with knifes, 23%*with a firearm and 14%* by strangulation or suffocation.
Apparently, these campaigns called to raise awareness about the number of cases of violence
Some people have prejudices related to the issue of domestic violence, e.g.: they believe that the violence is not so frequent
and tend to deny or minimize the cases that are known. They try to justify the conduct of the offender and the women to blame
for the situation.

Battered Woman Syndrome is when the repeated episodes of violence and thinking that the situation will not change, the
woman is silent, because she feel fear to produce one even greater aggression a members their families. The Battered woman
syndrome can manifest with bodily symptoms or psychological disorders for example: anxiety, moodiness, depression, feeling
of impotence, insomnia and suicide attempts drug abuse and eating disorders; women can presented disturbances in the body
such as: chronic abdominal pain, headache, fatigue. And can that do not improve with treatment; (d) gynecological problems. It
is common that battered women requested a consultation with the doctor and missing, and she has physical injuries caused by
violence, often delay seeking help, or to give vague explanations about how it was caused. Pregnant women often attend
antenatal care late.

Generally the aggressor prevents the victim is staffed by a doctor and accompanies medical consultation to make sure that you have nothing. In
many cases, the abuse in women is only detected by the health system when the victim is hospital with serious injuries or any sign of has
suffered some kind of physical violence.

In conclusion, domestic violence in women can affect their conduct psychological in the future, making it become problem that
transferred from generation to generation. The first step for this may be that you agree to the condition that it is a disease that
can be cured and she need treatment psychological that helps you get out of this problem. The support from family and friends
of the aggrieved woman plays an important role in their recovery. It is also important to denounce the aggression, because this
can prevent a femicides or that the aggressors attempt his life.

For this reason, when a woman asks for help, you should receive at all times concrete supports to change their situation,
respecting and not blaming it by her decisions. It is important to understand that the violence will continue and will increase,
and that does not correct the conduct of their aggressor, so that it is aware of the danger that runs.
