Assessment Pattern for Class 10


Board Exam 2017-18
CBSE Class 10- New Exam System
As per CBSE Class 10- New Exam Assessment Pattern, CCE and term systems
have been abolished. In place, a new single annual exam will be conducted by
CBSE. The exam conducted by CBSE will have 80 marks. Rest 20 marks will be
awarded by respective schools through internal assessment. Below are the
complete details of the same.

The present dual scheme for class 10, Scheme-I and Scheme-II, will be
discontinued from the next academic session 2017-18 and onwards.

CBSE New Exam Pattern Periodic Test (10 marks)


The schools will conduct three periodic written tests in an academic year. The
average of the best two periodic tests will be considered. The schools can
conduct these exams any time they want. Three tests may be held as one being
mid-term test and other two being pre mid and post mid-term. Each can cover
portion of syllabus.
CBSE New Exam Pattern Notebook Submission (5
marks):

Notebook submission is aimed at improving students ability to prepare notes in


the classroom as well as assignments. The critical aspects here are regularity,
punctuality, neatness and notebook upkeep.

CBSE New Exam Pattern Subject Enrichment Activities (5


marks):

These subject enrichment activities are subject specific activities. These


activities are aimed at the understanding and skill development. These activities
are to be recorded by the respective subject teachers.

Languages: Aim to equip students to develop effective speaking and listening


skills.

Mathematics: The laboratory activities and projects will be given in the


prescribed CBSE/NCERT books

Science: The practical works/ activities will be prescribed by the CBSE in the
curriculum.

Social Science: Map and project work will be prescribed by the CBSE in the
curriculum.

Co-Scholastic Activities: CBSE New


Exam Scheme
Schools should promote co-curricular activities for the holistic development of
the student. These activities will be graded on a 5-point grading scale (A to E)
and will have no descriptive indicators. No upscaling of grades will be done.

Records relating to the interior appraisal of the students done by the schools
will be kept up for a time of three months from the date of verification of result
for discretion of the Board. Subjudiced cases, assuming any or those including
RTI/Grievances may however be held past three months.

CBSE New Exam Pattern for Class 6 to 9 in the CBSE


affiliated schools:

The CBSE affiliated schools, for the purpose of uniformity in class 6 to 9 may
replicate the same assessment model as described above for Class 10 for
Academic Year 2017-18.
