Location: Medical Sciences Building 1204

Course Description: This course focuses on English language development through medical science topics.
The linguistic elements include broadening medical science related vocabulary and improving English listening
and speaking fluency. Course topics introduce well known medical disorders affecting people around the globe.
At the end of this course students should feel confident in discussing several medical disorders in English.

Course Materials: Prepared by the instructor and provided before each lesson. Materials may also be
available on the course website. There is no textbook required for this course.

NOTE: Weekly schedule and course material are flexible.

Course Grades Distribution Overview:

Attendance 15%
Assignments 25%
Midterm Exam 25%
Final Exam 35%

Policies:
1. Plagiarism ____________ is NOT okay. If you are caught, you may be given an F.
2. Cheating _____________ is NOT okay. If you are caught, you may be given an F.
3. Attendance is mandatory.
Note: 5/5 = no absences, 4/5 = 1 absence, 0/5 = 5 absences (15% of your final grade)
a. Excused absences must be validated by submitting the appropriate documents to your
department office. A photocopy of each document must also be provided to your course
instructor.
b. Graded in-class activities which are missed due to unexcused absences will receive a score of
0. Students who miss graded in-class activities due to excused absences will be unaffected.
4. We may not always see eye to eye. If there is a problem, please speak to me first. I will work
with you to try and resolve any issues you may have.
