will
be
entered
in
SKYWARD.
Its
the
responsibility
of
parents
and
students
to
check
for
missing
work
and
problem
areas
before
each
grading
period
ends.

students

the
class

The
coursework
in
this
class
is
intended
to
sharpen
and
build
on
students
problem
solving
skills,
procedural
fluency,
and
conceptual
understanding
while
building
an
important
foundation
for
future
math
work.
Students
will
be
assessed
on
their
progress
toward
meeting
goals
and
expectations
in
two
domains:
WASHINGTON
LEARNING
STANDARDS
(Math
Grades)
Scores
are
based
on
the
average
of
multiple
demonstrations
of
skill
level
for
each
learning
standard.
Students
will
regularly
set
goals
and
make
plans
that
will
help
them
achieve
proficiency.
Math
grades
in
the
Standards
Based
Gradebook
communicate
where
each
student
is
in
their
understanding
and
use
of
specific
skills
and
where
they
are
in
their
goal-setting
cycle.

Practice:
Students
will
have
regular
weekly
homework
on
IXL,
which
can
be
accessed
from
the
class
website.
To
be
successful,
they
will
need
to
spend
a
minimum
of
60
min.
per
week
completing
their
online
practice,
with
a
minimum
Smart
Score
of
80
in
Level
A
(All).
Parents
can
monitor
student
progress
in
IXL
with
reports
generated
from
the
program.
Students
may
have
additional
homework,
particularly
if
they
have
been
absent
or
not
using
class
time
wisely.

our
math

year.

Appropriate
Technology
Use:
Students
will
have
access
to
Chromebooks
daily
in
math
class.
They
will
receive
instruction
on
safe
and
appropriate
technology
use
throughout
the
year
from
core
teachers.
Students
are
expected
to
navigate
online
curriculum
and
web
resources
within
the
parameters
that
each
teacher
sets
for
the
student.
Headphones
or
earbuds
will
be
useful
for
some
of
the
activities
that
we
do
in
class,
but
are
NOT
required.
Teachers
will
be
using
a
program
called
Hapara,
which
allows
live
screen
monitoring
during
work
sessions
in
class.
Students
that
violate
school
technology
policies
may
lose
access.
Cell
phones
are
not
permitted
in
math
class.
Students
are
expected
to
silence
their
devices
and
stow
them
in
their
backpacks
during
class.
They
may
not
keep
them
in
their
pockets
or
respond
to
parent
phone
calls
or
texts
during
class
time.
If
there
is
a
special
circumstance
on
a
particular
day,
please
send
a
note
to
let
me
know.
Other
Classroom
Policies:
Students
should
not
bring
snacks
or
drinks
to
class,
with
the
exception
of
water
bottles.
Students
should
get
into
the
habit
of
using
the
restroom
in
passing
time
between
classes.
Students
may
use
a
bathroom
pass
during
work
time
(not
instruction),
but
should
reserve
that
for
urgent
situations.
If
your
child
has
a
medical
reason
to
use
the
restroom
frequently,
please
let
me
know.
