GOOD MANNERS
Man without manners is savage. Good Manners are the backbone of our society.
They make a man full and form an essential part of our civilization. Without them a
man is like an orphan without any one to look after them. They are the outcome of
good breeding. A person who has been brought up in a good environment must have
good manners. In our life we have to learn the manners. If we do not learn to behave
properly. We will become rude, rough and savage. A cultured man always shows his
grace in every phase of activity.
Good manners make a man a useful member of the society. They lend colour and
grace the life. They are more important than the laws of the state. Courtesy is the
foundation stone of good manners. We should be courteous and polite to others. In no
case, we should lose our temper. We should be polite even while turning down the
unfair request of others.
We should show our respect to our elders and teachers. We should be considerate
to women and children. We should not think ourselves superior to our friends. A well
etiquetted man never speaks such things which may harm or hurt others. He always
keeps in mind their comfort and happiness. Good behaviour, politeness, kindness,
sympathy, should be shown towards all. When we meet a deaf and dumb, blind and
aged man we should be courteous to him.

Facial beauty is purchased by cosmetics and so is knee long artificial hair. Behind
them is hidden ugliness. Real beauty needs no beauty aids. An oily tongue conceals
hypocrisy. Crooks are sweet tongued but are wolves in sheep's clothing.
Sinners regularly visit temples and apply a big ' Tilak' on their forehead which is a
pose concealing villainy. We must not therefore judge things on the basis of face. Value
Intrinsic worth lies in the glitter of deeds, not in external shows. It is the handsome
deeds that bring glory. Lincoln had ugly looks. Tolstoy had a gawky nose.
Gandhiji discarded even the necessary clothes. Inspite of their worthless exterior,
their names are cherished treasure. Therefore, we must guard ourselves against
surface beauty. Real beauty is skin-deep.
