A Narrative Report on District BIGSAYWIT 2017

Big-Say-Wit (Bigkas-Sayaw-Awit) a contest held in Tangob Elementary

School last August 8. Selected pupils from grades IV-VI with a maximum

total member of 25 joined the said event.

The piece entitled Wikang Filipino, WIkang Mapagbago composed by

Dr. Erico Memije Habijan was used for the contest.

Sixteen out of seventeen elementary schools from Padre Garcia District

competed for the contest they were Banaba ES, Bawi ES, Bukal ES, Castillo

ES, Cawongan ES, Domingo Zuo ES, Maugat East ES, Manggas Tamak ES,

Pansol ES, San Mieguel ES, San Felipe ES, Quilo-Quilo ES, Quilo-Quilo North

ES, Tangob ES and Padre Garcia Central School.

Through this activity teachers, school administrators, and event

organizers strengthens the love for culture, tradition, and philosophy of

Filipinos. This event gave opportunity to students to highlight their talents,

creativities, and knowledge.

In addition, this event exposed pupils to experience diversity in

personalities as they encountered different students from different school

district. Furthermore,
students developed a sense of sportsmanship as they accepted the result of

the competition.

The event started with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem,

Mrs.Jinnelyn S. Magdangan, HT of Quilo Quilo North ES conducting. It was

followed by an opening prayer led by Mrs. Gina Carillo Teacher I of Castillo

ES.

Before the main presentation of different school, an opening remark

by Dr. Mary Ann M. Lopez, Principal I of Tangob ES and District Filipino

Coordinator marked the start of the competition. The presence of important

guest was appreciated in the competition as they attended to express their

support in the said program; he is Hon. Cornelio G. Carpio, Barangay Captain

of Tangob.

Pupils swayed, jumped, sang and graciously moved as they performed

in front of a large crowd. The audience expressed cheers and tremendous

supports as they loudly called out the names of their schools and friends.

The following individuals served as judges Mrs. Lydia D. Latoza, of

Bukal NHS, Ms. Gleene E. Padilla of Padre Garcia NHS and Mr. Cedric L. Harina

of Pansol NHS.

All performances were remarkable but definitely one performance

would stand up among other performances. Judges definitely had a hard

time in deciding which among the performances deserve to be the champion


for this year. The following were the criteria for judging: a. Linaw ng bigkas at

indayog = 60%; b. Hikayat ng damdamin at emosyon = 20%; c. Sangkap teknikal

(lapat ng tunog, musika, at disiplinang pang-entablado = 15%; Dating sa mga

manonood = 5%.

The judges decision brought the crowd in loud excitement and

immense happiness as they announced Quilo-Quilo South ES as the

champion for the Bigsaywit 2017 champion, Bawi ES ranked as the second

place, Pansol ES placed as the third, Tangob ES as got the fourth place and

San Felipe ES ranked fifth.

Awarding of certificates were done after the announcement of winners.
