SKYPE FOR BUSINESS GENERAL

1. LOGIN ISSUES [MAC]

1. Go to Keychain Access Application Search for the keyword Skype Delete the Skype-related entries
 2. Click on Skype for Business Click on Sign out Follow the format below to sign in

 2. HOW DO I SET UP A MEETING BETWEEN TELEPRESENCE (TP) AND SKYPE:

Though we should be mindful about TP cost, if necessary you can dial into a TP meeting from Skype by calling:
[meetingnumber]@myvideo.ge.com from Skype.
An example of this is if the meeting dial-in number confirmed in the Telepresence booking email is 13009991001
then you call 13009991001@myvideo.ge.com from Skype for Business. You can also add this dial pattern as a contact.
 3. I TRIED TO SEND A FILE AND RECEIVED A FILE TRANSFER IS TURNED OFF MESSAGE

File Transfer is enabled for internal (GE Company) employees, but it is disabled for external participants per
compliance guidelines.
 4. I CANT CONTACT MY FEDERATED USER ON SKYPE

You can submit a federation request here and will ask for specifics (e.g. IP Address, company, etc.). If you look at the
records, you can see what's been requested: sc.ge.com/*sfbfederationrequest
** Migrated Former Alstom users cant file transfer to non-migrated users. This is expected behavior and will work once
the target user is migrated to the GE Tenant.
 5. RECEIVED INSTALLATION WAS UNSUCCESSFUL WHEN TRYING TO DOWNLOAD SKYPE FOR BUSINESS.

This can occur when the version of Office currently installed is an older (or 64bit) version. The best thing to do in this
scenario is to install the latest version Microsoft_Office2016x86_16.0.7369.2102_V01 which installs Skype with the rest of
the suite.
 6. I DONT HAVE ACCESS TO MYTECH, WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD THE SOFTWARE?

7. I CANT HEAR INCOMING IM ALERT SOUNDS [WINDOWS]

If the SfB application is in focus, it will mute incoming IM alert sounds. You can modify this and other notification settings
by going to the Gear icon on the contact list Tools Options Ringtones & Sounds

8. IS THERE ANY PLAN TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO IMPORT CONTACTS FROM JABBER?
There is no way to move contacts from Jabber to Skype.

9. SIGN IN ISSUES WHEN SWITCHING FROM F5 TO MYAPPS

This is a known issue. We are actively working with Microsoft to resolve this issue.
SKYPE MEETINGS

10. AM I ABLE TO RECORD MEETINGS IN SFB?

We dont currently support recording meetings in SFB as per compliance guidelines. SFB recording works a little differently
from other platforms and have new security implications which we are not able to support due to our compliance
guidelines.

11. HOW DOES SKYPE MEETINGS WORK? AM I ENABLED?

Please click here to learn more about how to use Skype Meetings. Skype Meetings is in a pilot phase, if you have not
received an email inviting you to the pilot program then you are not enabled.

12. WHY CAN I JOIN A MEETING BUT I CANT HOST ONE?

This means Skype Meetings isnt completely enabled for you yet. If you are not fully enabled for Skype Meetings you will be
able to join meetings but not host them. Skype Meetings is in a pilot phase, if you have not received an email inviting you
to the pilot program then you are not enabled. Skype Meetings are coming later in 2017 for all GE employees.

13. WHAT IS INTEGRATED CONFERENCING? HOW CAN I GET A DIAL-IN NUMBER LIKE I DO WITH WEBEX?
When a user is assigned a Skype for Business PSTN Conferencing license and the user creates a new Skype for Business
meeting in Outlook or Outlook on the web, the dial-in phone numbers and conferencing IDs are added to the meeting
invite automatically. We have not assigned these licenses to GE users at this time. When this feature becomes available
we will let users know.

14. DOES SKYPE MEETINGS INTEGRATE WITH MY INTERCALL AUDIO CONFERENCING ACCOUNT?
They dont integrate since they are separate products. You can however call a TP unit from a Skype Meeting. Check out
FAQ #2 to learn more.

15. DO I HAVE A SHORT LINK OR A PERSONAL MEETING ROOM WITH SKYPE MEETINGS?
No. Skype Meetings creates a new meeting link with every new outlook invite. This link shouldnt be copied and pasted
outside of the Outlook meeting invite. The Skype meeting invite is meant to be used with Outlooks meeting functionality.
You should be using Outlook to invite people to a Skype meeting. Please view this document to learn more about Skype

16. HOW DO I SEND A SCREEN CLIP IN SKYPE MEETINGS?

When you want to send a screen clip in Skype:

1. Click on the scissors icon in Windows
2. Drag the cursor to form a box around what you want to clip (the image will be automatically copied to your clipboard)
3. Right click in your Skype conversation and click paste (or use Ctrl + V)
17. HOW DO I RESET MY CONFERENCE ID PIN?

1. Sign in to Office 365 with your GE account.

2. Go to the Office 365 admin center > Skype for Business and in the left navigation click Dial-in conferencing
3. Click on Dial-in users, select the user that you want to reset the PIN for.
4. In the Action pane, click Reset PIN.

18. WHEN JOINING A SKYPE MEETING FROM AN EXTERNAL NETWORK I GET A POP-UP THAT SAYS HOW WOULD
YOU LIKE TO JOIN YOUR MEETING?

Always select Join with Skype for Business (desktop), this link should open your Skype app.
19. HOW DO I GET MY SKYPE FOR BUSINESS CLIENT TO INTEGRATE WITH OUTLOOK TO PULL IN MY MEETINGS?

If you have Skype for Business but are missing the "New Skype Meeting" button in the "Calendar" section of Outlook, you
may have the "Skype Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office" COM Add-In disabled.
To check this and re-enable the Add-In in Outlook:
1. Click File to access the Backstage view of Office
2. Click Options
3. In the Outlook Options window, choose Add-Ins from the column on the left
4. Make sure "COM Add-ins" is selected in the drop-down menu next to "Manage:" at the bottom of the window
5. Click the "Go..." button
6. In the "COM Add-Ins" window find the "Skype Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office option and make sure the box for
that option has a check in it
7. Click OK

To export client logs:

Windows:
Close SfB and Outlook
Hold down the windows key + R, then paste this
path: %userprofile%\appdata\Local\Microsoft\Office\16.0\lync\Tracing
Zip the tracing folder
Mac:
Click on the Preferences menu (Top left menu while using SfB)
On the General tab, click "Collect Logs" button
The logs will be zipped and placed in the downloads folder
