ABSTRACT
RESEARCH FOCUS: The Civic Centre with Eco Park will focus on emphasizing sustainability in
integrating architecture with the natural environment and will minimize the negative environmental
impact of buildings by enhancing effectiveness and moderation in the use of materials, energy, and
development space. It will also focus on blending contemporary styles and supporting sustainable and
green architecture through the maximum use of available daylight, made possible by the incorporation
of skylights and glass walls.
WHAT IS THE PROJECT ABOUT? The Civic Centre will serve as the focal point in the community
governance. This Civic Centre will provide spaces for a community library, a learning centre, barangay
and local government offices, a performing arts theatre / auditorium, an eco-park, convention hall, a
museum; and other auxiliary spaces. The design will symbolize power, pride of place, and political will
of the government.
To show the Eco Park, a plaza / park will sit on the centre of the development filled with community
activities. This will encourage the community to interact, sit, relax, and play and to move through the
entire space freely. A landscape that responds to the needs and progression of the social, economic,
environmental and cultural needs of the community. This proposal can be a civic space but also a
community backyard.
