Get a "feel" for the problem. Ask yourself what the question wants from you.

Build you argument based on laws. For example when analyzing bodies in equilibrium, start by
stating that the net force and the net torque is zero. Then follow that by stating the torque is the
same for all points as long as the body is in translational equilibrium ( net force=0)
