SEC, together with the Office of the President, DTI, SSS, and PSE, has ranked best in the net sincerity ratings of 36 institutions in fighting corruption dur-
ing the latest 2014-2015 Survey of Enterprises, conducted from 14 November 2014 to 12 May 2015.
From a range of +69 to -69 points, the SEC is at 63 points, the Office of the President is at 54 points, the DTI is at 51 points, the SSS is at 57 points, and
the PSE is at 55 points.
The said survey was conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS) with support from the Integrity for Investments Initiative (i3) and funding from the
United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and in partnership with the National Competitiveness Council and The Asia Foundation. Ran-
dom sampling for the said survey was drawn from one-third large enterprises (325 companies) and two-third small and medium enterprises (641 companies),
totaling to 966 companies. Said enterprises were drawn from the following areas: Metro Manila (356), Metro Angeles (101), Cavite-Laguna-Batangas (101),
Metro Iloilo (100), Metro Cebu (100), Metro Davao (101), and Cagayan de Oro-Iligan (107).
In its commitment to improve ease of doing business in the Philippines, the SEC continuously meets the expectations of the transacting public. Barely
four months into its launching, the SECs Integrated Business Registration System (IBRS) has already processed and approved 9,752 corporations mostly within
one (1) business day. The SEC, through the IBRS, allows for the seamless and simultaneous registration of corporations with the BIR, SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-
ibig.
To further bring government services closer to the public, the SEC has also opened Satellite Offices in Ali Mall, Robinsons Galleria, and SM Manila, with
other malls in Metro Manila and major cities nationwide to follow. SEC Chairperson Teresita J. Herbosa said that clients who choose to drop by the SEC Satel-
lite Offices can avail of full company registration services such as processing of new applications, amendments to existing corporations, verification of pro-
posed corporate names and pre-processing of registration applications, among others.
According to Director Ferdinand B. Sales of the SECs Company Registration and Monitoring Department, the SEC processed about 24,000 new cor-
porations last year and regulates about 870,000 corporations, among others. Although the SECs earned collections averaged about Php 3 Billion per annum
for the past 3 years, it only runs at an average budget of Php 400 Million per year with about 385 employees. The remaining balance of the SECs collections
is remitted to the National Treasury.
It is worth noting that the SEC was recently ranked as the 8th Best Performing National Agency by the Makati Business Club survey this August 2015.
