1.Hamartia: "Then live, Macduff. What need I fear of thee?But yet Ill make assurance double sure,

And take a bond of fate. Thou shalt not live,

That I may tell pale-hearted fear it lies,

And sleep in spite of thunder."(IV,I,Lns-85-89)

Macbeth causes the downfall because he killed Macduff's family which cause him to become

enraged and created an army to take Macbeth down. Macbeth causes more problems to come

when he believes the witches that Macduff is dangerous but he could have avoided this by talking to

Macduff.

2.Hubris: "That was not born of woman? /Such a one Am I to fear, or none."(IV,VII,lns 3-5)

Macbeth acts Hubris because he believes that no one that was born from a women can kill him.Also

that he shouldnt be afraid because n one can hurt him anyways.

3. Peripeteia:"O treachery! Fly, good Fleance, fly, fly, fly! Thou may st revenge O

slave!"(III.III.lns18-19)

Macbeth learns that he will fail as a leader because the prophacy of banquos son will become king.

4. Anagnorisis:"Tell thee, Macduff was from his mother's womb

Untimely ripped" (Act V.VIII lines 15-16)

Macbeth soon learns that Macduff was born of C-section which surprises Macbeth because he had

said before that no one born from a women will kill him.Macduff kills Macbeth which leads him to the

end of his rule.

5.Nemesis:"Fair is foul, and foul is fair" (Act I.I ln 12)

Throughout the play there are many references back to this quote which leads to Macbeths

downfall. Macbeth was at first fair as he won the war for the king.Later, He meets the witches which

causes him to change and become foul as he killed the king.His Fate could not be reversed because
He already killed the king and caused the chain to be broken and he will sooner or later die

anyways.

6.Catharsis: "As calling home our exiled friends abroad/That fled the snares of watchful

tyranny,/Producig forth thr cruel ministers/of this dead butcher and his fiendlike queen,/That calls

upon us ,by the grace of Grace,"(IV,VIII,lns 66--68)

Malcolm says that the evil has been killed which is Macbeth and his wife.The audience should feel

relieved that Macbeth and his wife are gone because there is no more evil.
