BREAKING GROUND
FOR THE FUTURE
Mr. Ray Rought, Director of the Minnesota Division of Aeronautics, Col Kevin Sliwinski, Col Dale Hoium and Mr. Glenn Burke, Manager
of South St. Paul Airport break ground on the new Minnesota Wing Training and Aircraft Maintenance Facility at South St Paul Airport.
Col Hoium is using a USAF Entrenching Tool to break ground as a symbol of the relationship between the USAF and CAP.
South St. Paul, MN – Minnesota Wing members came together on Sunday April 25th to break ground on the Wing’s New
Training and Aircraft Maintenance Facility. Thanks to the efforts of the State Legislature and Especially Mr. Ray Rought
the wing has secured the funding needed to begin Phase One of the Building Program.
Construction will begin in May for a new Wing Aircraft Maintenance Facility. From here our nationally acclaimed
centralized maintenance program will have its permanent home. The CAP-USAF Liaison Office will be housed here. In
addition the Maintenance facility will also serve as a mission base for actual and training missions.
“This is a new beginning.” Said Col Houim, Minnesota Wing Commander. “We are very pleased to have the Civil Air
Patrol based here as one of our anchors at the airport.” Said Glenn Burke, South St. Paul Airport Manager.
