Student Worker Hours Summary

Students in Work-Study Positions:


o No More than 20 hours per week in Work-Study position
o Students may work up to 29.75 hours if:
Student has approval from supervisor; and,
Had a conversation with their Academic Advisor on increased workloads
o No more than 8 hours in any 24-hour period or 40 hours in one week
o Up to 40 hours per week permitted when classes are not in session
(not inclusive of summer)

International Students
o No more than 20 hours per week
o Up to 40 hours per week permitted when classes are not in session
(not inclusive of summer)

Graduate Students in Graduate Assistant Positions


o No more than 20 hours per week in Graduate Assistant position during term

NOTE: Under the Affordable Care Act, health insurance benefits must be offered to:
Any employee who is reasonably expected to work at least 30 hours per week or 130
hours per month for a period of 90 days or more, and
Any employee who works an average of at least 30 hours per week or 130 hours per
month during a 12-month measurement period

ACA eligibility is based on actual hours worked, and assignments must accurately reflect work
hours to enable compliance.

NOTE: Any student holding multiple positions cannot work a cumulative total of 20 hours per
week* or 40 hours when classes are not in session.

Student Worker Eligibility Summary

Students in Work-Study Positions, International Students, and Graduate Students in


Graduate Assistant Positions:
o Must be eligible to work in the United States
o Must be enrolled full time
o Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or within their first year

*Students who have received approval by their supervisor to work up to 29.75 hours may work
no more than a cumulative 29.75 hours per week if holding multiple positions.
