SECOND ANNUAL SPIRIT OF PEACE

2017 CONFERENCE REPORT

Wale Idris Ajibade | African Views | September 7, 2017

African Views Organization

September 8, 2017

For Immediate Release

Wall Street, New York, on Tuesday July 18 and Wednesday July 19, 2017, the 2nd Annual
Spirit of Peace Conference took place at the Federal Hall National Memorial. Another
milestone in world cultural history was reached when Monarchs from Africa, and Chief Schem
from Native American Tribal Government came together to participate in the Spirit of Peace
conference and celebrate Nelson Mandela International Day with a special truth and
reconciliation ceremony.

We are proud, indeed, to share with the rest of the world that we brought an end to the historic
conflict between Dr. W.E.B DuBois (co-founders of the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People {NAACP}) and the honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey,
(founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association {UNIA}) through mutual apologies
and forgiveness from one generation of one descendant to another to resolve the conflict
between their ancestors.

Rather than just a symbolic gesture, we believe that the Spirit of Peace initiatives provide the
opportunity to respectfully engage collective and transgenerational traumatic disorder and
correct them with the appropriate and necessary healing approaches. Our hope is that Mandela
Day continue to serve as a light house for conflict resolutions and as guide for forging a more
peaceful and congruous society.

The Spirit of Peace is an annual high-level conference of leaders, representatives, kings from
Africa, and Chief Schem from Native American Tribes on the role of culture in sustainable
development. This years program featured African Kings meeting with native American Chief
Sachems focusing on the following programs:

July 18, 2017: Day I: Peace and Security (Sustainable Development Goal 16)

July 19, 2017: Day II: Global Economic Partnerships (Sustainable Development Goal 17)

July 18, 2017: Day I: Peace and Security (Sustainable Development Goal 16)

The philosophy and doctrines of Dr. William Edward Burghardt "W. E. B." Du Bois, Co-founder
of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP, 1909) was
Integration and Integral Civil and Human Rights Institution, while that of Marcus Mosiah
Garvey, Jr. founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA, 1914) was based on
the ideology of the need for Separate and Equal Black Institutions and Enterprises. These ideas
clashed, it got personal and both went on an all-out offensive and both suffered the consequences
from the very rogue state that they were both against. This conflict was never resolved and many
historian and African Scholars though these differing ideologies to be divisive and overbearing.

Dr. Julius Garvey (Son of the Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey) and Mr. Arthur McFarlane
