lncandescent luminaires shall be for use with lamps through 300
watts. Hlgh intensity discharge lurninaires shall be for use with
(75) (100) (175) (250)-watt mercuryl I(70) (100) (150) (250)-watt
high-pressure sodiu ml amp.
Luminaire shall be for (post top) (pendant) mounting.
Base for post{op mounting luminaire shall be cast alLlminLlm
and shall have an integral ladder rest and post-top fitter. It
shall mount on 2y2-inch l-P.S. or 3-inch O.D. poles and shall
be secured with three set screws. lt shall house a socket and
terminal block for incandesceni luminaires or a ballast, socket
and terminal block assembly for high intensity discharge
luminaires.
Optical assembly shall consist of four prismatic, shatter-
resistant (acrylic) (polycarbonate) panels. lt shall provide
(symmetric) (asymmetric) light paitern. Panels shall be held
securely in place by four channeled, extruded aluminum cor-
ner posts attached to the base and the cast aluminum hinge
irame. Pendant lum;naire base shall be cast aluminum and
shall have a translucent polycarbonate window in unders;de
to provide light directly under the luminaire for improved uni-
formity.
Cover shall be cast aluminum. lt shall be secured, in the
closed posilion, to the hinge frame by two stainTess steel
hinge pins and two stainless steel captive screws. Ballast,
socket and terminal block shall be mounted in cover for
pendant mounting units.
Photoconlrol housing for post-top luminaires shall be alumi-
num and shall be louvered 10 permit the entry of light. lt shall
house an EEI-NEMA standard three terminal polarized twist-
lock iype photocontrol receptacle. Housing shall have a spring
retained roof for access to the pholocontrol. The receptacle
and housing shalJ be designed so that it can be oriented to
face in a northerly direction. Luminaire shall be connected to
provide (120) (208) (240J (277)-voli operation of photocontrol.
Socket shall be porcelain enclosed and shall properly posi-
tion an (incandescent) (mercury) (high-pressure sodium) lamp,
to obtain specified Iight distribution.
Terminal block ior input power connection shall have pres-
sure-pad terminals and shall accept conductors through #6
AWG size.
Ballast shall be:
High-Reactance Mercury lamp ballasl rated (75) (17s)-watts,
with an input of 12o-volts.
Conslanl-Wattage Aulotransformer Mercury lamp ballast rated
(100) (175) (250) watts, with an input of (120) (208) Q4A) 1277)
(480)-volts.
Autolranstormer Reaclor High-Pressure Sodium lamp ballast
rated (70), (100), (150), (250) watts, wrth an input of (120) (208)
\240) (277) (480)-volts.
Finish shall be thermoset acrylic enamel.
