Central Visayas is strategically located in the heart of the Philippines. It is

the gateway for foreign and domestic tourism, lying in the midst of both air and
sea traffic. Composed of three provinces namely: Cebu, Bohol and Siquijor. The
region is blessed with beautiful beaches, a plethora of sea life, many caves and
potential areas for mountain trekking. Moreover, the region is steeped in
historical significance. Events ranging from the death of Portugese explorer
Ferdinand Magellan at the hands of chieftain Lapulapu of the island of Opon
(known as Mactan Island) to the blood compact between Miguel Lopez de Legaspi
and Datus Sikatuna and Sigala as well as other significance events will make a
visit to the region very interesting.

Its physical attractions are both natural and man-made. Its beautiful
pristine white beaches with clear blue waters, rich marine life and white corals
offer some of the world's best scuba, snorkeling, and diving sites. Some of the
region's provinces enable visitors a glimpse of a rich history and tradition as well
as culture and quite many festivals. The region has numerous waterfalls,
mountain trails and caves which provide opportunities for mountain trekking,
spelunking and other outdoor activities for the more adventurous.

fort was first started on May 8, 1565 by Spanish and indigenous Cebuanos under the command of
Miguel Lo pez de Legazpi. Fort San Pedro is located in Plaza Indepedencia in the pier area of Cebu City. Get inside the fort and travel
back in time to the first Spanish settlement in the Philippines.

Basilica del Santo Nio

Considered as the oldest Roman Catholic church in the country, it was built on the spot where the image of the Santo Nin o de Cebu
was found in 1565 by Spanish explorers led by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. For Catholic devotees, the church is called the Mother and
Head of all Churches in the Philippines by the Holy See.

Magellans Cross
The chapel where the Magellans Cross is housed. The Cross is a Christian cross planted by Portuguese and Spanish explorers led by
Ferdinand Magellan upon arriving in Sugbu (the former name of Cebu) to celebrate the Roman Catholic baptism of Rajah Humabon,
his wife Queen Juana, and some of their followers on April 21, 1521.

Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral

The Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, also called as The Metropolitan Cathedral of the Most Holy Name of Jesus and St. Vitalis, is the
ecclesiastical seat of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Cebu. The cathedral was first constructed in 1689, completed in 1909, and
rebuilt in 1950 after it was almost destroyed during World War 2.

The Heritage of Cebu Monument.

Located in the original Plaza Parain in Colon Street, Cebu City, the landmark is a tableau of monumental sculptures showcasing the
most important events in the history of Cebu from the time of Rajah Humabon to the recent beatification of Cebuano martyr Pedro
Calunsod. The monument is a work of national artist Edgardo Castrillo. It was started in July 1997 and inaugurated on December 8,
2000.

Museo Sugbo
The facility was designed in 1869, by a Spanish architect named Domingo de Escondrillas. It is relatively large because it was
intended to be the principal prison complex in the Visayas region.
Canyoneering and Moalboal Island Hopping
An ultimate treat for adventure seekers. Jump off 20-foot high waterfall to enter the canyons, dive
and swim in cool and deep lagoons, scramble down under massive boulders, enjoy the natural

Pescador Island, Turtle Point and experience Sardines Run.

the Philippines (the oldest is San Agustin Church, in Real Street, Intramuros, Manila, built in 1571).
Constructed in 1595 by the Jesuit priests, it is still intact and houses important relics and images reminiscent
of the historic Roman Catholic religion in the country. Among those displayed in the church museum are:
crystal chandelier, silver tabernacle, altar with carvings inlaid with gold, life-size statues and more.

Blood Compact Shrine

An historical marker marks the location where Datu Sikatuna, a native chieftan, forged a blood
compact with Don Miguel Lopez de Legazpi representing the King of Spain, for the purpose of
fostering friendly relations between the two nations. The Blood Compact on March 16, 1565 is
considered as the first "Treaty of Friendship" between Europe and Asia.

tarsiers.

municipality of Loboc meets Bilar.
