Key activities
1. Awareness raising and sensitization of policy makers, health professionals, and
community leaders to introduce the concept of PHC
2. Rapid assessment to verify and update needs assessed previously.
3. Functional rehabilitation of selected model district PHC centres and selected hospitals not
supported by the Emergency Obstetric Care (EOC) project.
4. Technical assistance to support the MOH in
Making operational policies and strategies for PHC system
Establishing SOPs and guidelines to ensure quality of health services.
Identifying HRH needs and plan for balanced quality health care at district level.
Building Capacity for District Team Problem Solving (DTPS)
Developing basic health kit package.
Strengthening and implementing state of the art monitoring and evaluation system.
Institutional capacity building at district level including managerial and supervisory.
5. Assessment of in-service and pre-service skills and knowledge. In-service and Pre-service
training curricula designed and implemented. The aim is to train 2000 various categories
of health personnel. (Physicians, nurses, Health facility managers and administrators,
etc)
