KV LIBRARY
By James Snelgrove & Pam Taylor,
2010 Summer Reading Club Co-ordinators
It’s been a fun-filled adventure at the Kennebecasis Public
Library this summer, but our Summer Reading Club still has
one stop left to make - our end of year party! If you’re a
member of the SRC, like to have fun, and think cake tastes
just great, then we want to see you! Our party is today, August
17th. To fit all of our members in, we will be holding one party Serving great food since 1971
from 2:00-4:00pm and another from 6:00-8:00pm, so pick
the time that works best for you! Both parties will be held at
the library, 1 Landing Court in Quispamsis.
The SRC’s end of summer party is always a blast, and this
year promises to be no exception. We will be playing fun
games, giving away prizes. A few special guest performers will
also be present! We will be hearing traditional Filipino music
performed by Abegail and Eden Llego who will be
accompanied by guitarist Doug Boyer, an ECMA nominee.
Sheila Croteau will also be performing Aboriginal drumming
and chanting songs with the help of the children at the party. www.liveattheblueolive.com www.medrestaurant.com
In keeping with our theme of world cultures and Gift Certificates Available
exploration, we invite all guests to dress up in an exploration-
inspired outfit. You may want to dress up as an adventurer
going on a safari, a sea-faring sailor, a fifteenth century
explorer, or any other travel related costume. I know that
everyone here at the Kennebecasis Public Library will be
decked out in our finery and hope that you will be too!
So for one final time this summer, come out to the 2010 SRC
at the Kennebecasis Public Library and celebrate all the
sights you’ve seen and the wonderful books you read. We can’t
wait to see you all! 204

ILLEGAL DUMP HOTLINE
Illegal dumps have no boundaries. In New Brunswick they can
be found along public roads, near streams, on private
WE PROTECT, YOU SAVE ... property, along railroad lines, and other out-of-the-way
places.
Illegal dumping is misplaced solid waste and raises concerns
over safety, property values and quality of life. It is also
referred to as ‘open dumping’, ‘fly dumping’, ‘midnight
dumping’, and ‘wildcat dumping’, because materials are
often dumped in open areas, from vehicles and, at times - late
at night.
An examination of the literature suggests economics and
low risk are factors affecting decisions to illegally dump.
More specifically, research indicates those who illegally dump
do so because they: Lack a sense of ownership; Believe
someone else will clean up what they have disposed of; Lack
public awareness about the health and environmental risks.
If you are aware of an illegal dump site, please contact the
“Illegal Dump Hotline”, or use another avenue, should you
