Lets Review
OBJECTIVES: Content Standard : 2.2 Apply a range of strategies to comprehend texts related to everyday living.
2.3 Analyse and evaluate various texts.
Learning Standard : 2.2.1 Demonstrate understanding by : (1) Identifying main ideas in given texts.
2.3.1 Read various texts and retrieve information by (i) skimming and scanning
STEPS ACTIVITY
1 1. Teacher explains each task and demonstrates examples.
LESSON DEVELOPMENT 2. The class does quick revision of each topic in the tasks given.
3. Students then attempt the exercises in pairs.
4. The teacher will patrol around to offer guidance where needed.
5. Once completed, teacher will call up individual students to share their answers on the board.
6. Answers will then be discussed and marked together.

Grammar ( Simple and Compound Sentences )
OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the students are able to write simple and compound sentences.

STEPS ACTIVITY
1 1. Teacher explains the notes given.
LESSON DEVELOPMENT 2. Students look at the pictures given and write sentences about each.
3. Students identify the simple of compound sentences e.g. batteries produce electricity / electricity
lights up our towns and cities.
4. The class then writes simple or compound sentences and identifying the conjunctions used.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, students are able to read and understand the meaning of words from print
media.
The students are also able to record their readings in their NILAM book.
STEPS ACTIVITY
1 1. Students will be either brought to the school library where the teacher will assist them in book
LESSON DEVELOPMENT selection or the teacher will bring selected books to the class for the students to read. Students are also
allowed to bring an English book of their choice.
2. Mass reading will take place quietly.

1 1. Teacher goes through the notes with the class and explains the grammar rules. Examples will be given

2. Students then jot down notes given in their exercise books and attempt the tasks given. The teacher
will check the progress of each student as she patrols around.
3. Once completed, the class will discuss and mark the answers together.
4. Corrections must be done where required.

4. Students then join the sentences using and or but.
5. They then match the words in column A with the words in column B to make simple or compound sentences.
