FIRST SEMESTER 2017-2018
Course Handout for Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics

Date: 02.08.2017
Course No. : CHE F213
Course Title : Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics
Instructor : Srinivas Krishnaswamy
Instructor (Tutorial) : Srinivas Krishnaswamy / Anirban Roy / Nikhil Sasidharan

1. Course Description: Development and applications of the combined first and second laws;
relations between state properties; chemical equilibria in reacting and non-reacting systems;
and phase equilibrium; extensive problem assignments throughout.

2. Scope & Objective: The purpose of this course is to provide a comprehensive treatment of
Thermodynamics from a Chemical Engineering viewpoint. It aims to provide an
understanding of the theory and applications of classical thermodynamics, thermodynamic
properties and equations of state along with methods used to describe and predict phase
equilibria.
