Wire cutter

Size H/8 (5 millimeter) crochet hook

#26-gauge permanently coated copper wire: 15 yards

Needle-nose pliers or combination pliers with built-in cutter

Toggle closure

1. Divide beads into five batches of 59 beads. One batch will be used for each strand of the
necklace. Cut copper wire into five 3-yard pieces.

2. Tie a knot close to one end of the copper wire to prevent beads from falling off.
Randomly string one batch of beads onto the wire (about 11-3/4 inches).

3. Start at the opposite end of the wire. Leaving a 6-inch tail, make a slipknot, ch 4.

* Slip bead up to hook, ch 1; rep from * across for a total of 59 beads.

Ch 4 without beads. Pull wire through the remaining lp on the hook to secure. Set aside.
(The chain with beads will measure about 22 inches, depending on tension.)

Repeat to make four more strands.

4. To assemble the necklace, gather all strands together at one end. Twist the wire ends
together tightly beyond the crochet for approx 1-1/2 inches. Trim excess wire. Thread the
twisted wire through one end of the toggle closure.

5. To create a wrapped loop, twist excess wire around the base below the toggle. Wrap two
or three times. Cut off excess wire.
6. Eliminate any sharp wire ends by crimping the wire ends tightly with the needle-nose
pliers. Repeat for the other side of the toggle.

Snowflakes are numbered, left to right.

Crochet the Clutch:

Ch 45.

Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, 42 hdc, turn (44 sts).

Rows 25: Ch 2, hdc in next st, 42 hdc, turn.

Row 6: Ch 2, hdc in next st, 12 hdc, ch 16, sk the next 16 hdc, hdc in next 14 sts, turn (this
creates one handle).

Row 7: Ch 2, hdc in next st, 12 hdc, 16 hdc in next 16 ch, hdc in next
14 sts, turn.
Rows 839: Ch 2, hdc in next st, 42 hdc, turn. Note: The number of crochet rows needed
depends on how tall your cosmetic bag liner is. If needed, adjust the number of crochet rows to
make your bag one row higher than the height of the zipped liner.

Row 4041: Rep Rows 67 (this creates second handle).

Rows 4245: Ch 2, hdc in next st, 42 hdc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Add the Lining and Finish the Clutch:

Lay the crocheted fabric flat. Measure the width and the distance from just below one handle to
just below the other handle. Cut fabric 1" wider and taller than measurements.

Fold 1/2" hem on all sides of fabric; press. Lay fabric right side up on inside of crocheted fabric.
Slip-stitch the fabric to crocheted fabric with matching thread.

Fold crocheted fabric in half with lining on the inside. Align the handles. Use yarn and a blunt-
end yarn needle to whipstitch the sides of the clutch together. Tie off yarn and trim the ends.

Insert cosmetic bag liner inside crocheted clutch, leaving zipper open. Hand-stitch the liner to the
crocheted clutch (along the zipper binding) using thread to match the binding.

Make Flower Pin:

Cut a small flower shape from cardboard. Using cardboard flower as a template, trace shape onto
tulle three times; cut out.

Cut small circle from felt for backing. Layer the tulle shapes on top of the felt circle, alternating
the position of the petals. Sew in place at center. Stitch three or four beads to the center of the
tulle flower.

Sew pin back to back of felt circle. Pin flower to crocheted clutch.
