LESSON PLAN

Course Title : Speaking and Listening

Subject Matters : Describing a job

Number of students : 20 students

Class level : Junior High School in grade 7

Time : 2 hours

1. General Instructional Goal


The general instructional goals for this lesson are
The students will be able to develop their English skill by describing and answering
the exercises.
The students will improve their speaking and listening skill.

2. Specific Instructional
The specific instructional goals for this lesson are
The students will be able to describe a job.
The students will be able to identify what the speaker said.
The students will be able to answer the description correctly.

3. Procedure of Teaching process


Pre activities:
The teacher greets the students by saying Good morning students and the students
answer it by saying Good morning too teacher and make a short conversation
such us asking their condition like How are you this morning? and they will
answer it I am fine thank you and you?. Through this short conversation, it is
going to practice their English skill by speaking.
The teacher checks the attendance list. In this case, the teacher calls the students
name one by one and then if the students in the class, they say present and if they
are not in the class, the other friends say absent.
Before start to learn about the current topic, the teacher repeats the previous
materials by asking the students and the students answer it by raising their hands
then the teacher tells the students about the materials that will be learnt. In this case,
the teacher gives the explanation about the materials and the students have to hear
and ask if they do not understand and the teacher will give a brief explanation about
the materials that will make easier to understand by the students.
While activities:
The teacher gives a listening exercise first to the students to make them attentive to
hear the description and the students prepare themselves. The teacher plays the
record and the students listen carefully about the direction and answer it
appropriately.
The teacher asks the students what have they heard and what is the clue, in this case
the students have to speak. After the exercise, the teacher calls the students name
randomly and asks about what they have heard and what the clue is. Then, the
students answer it by speaking about the description and to support their answer,
they mention the clues.
Post activities:
The teacher asks the students how they feel during the activity and the students
answer it differently so, the teacher pick some of students randomly to answer what
the teacher ask. Some of students answer it by saying good, not good and
confused.
Knowing the students feeling during the activity, he teacher asks the students
whether they get some problems or do not understand. The teacher asks it with the
students who answer not good and confused. The students tell the problems
and something that they do not understand about the activity to the teacher. The
teacher answers it by giving the simple explanation and also the example to make
the students easier to understand.
The teacher concludes the material and also asks what we have got from this
activity and the students answer the teachers question.
The teacher closes the class by saying see you next week and the students respond
it by saying see you next week teacher.

4. Exercises and Activities


The kind of activity that will be used in this lesson is a who am I game as follows;
The teacher divides the students into practice in pairs, the teacher lets the students
to choose their partner by themselves. The students choose their seatmate as their
partner.
The teacher tells the role of activity such us what are they going to do in this activity
and what kind of activity that they do. The student listen the direction from the
teacher and ask the teacher if they have not understood about the roles.
The teacher invites every pair to come forward and the students go into front of the
class with their partner.
The students are divided to be a speaker and a listener by the teacher. The teacher
lets the students to choose who will be the first speaker or listener. Then, the
students choose according to what they have agreed.
The students make the position into face-to-face, the listener backs to the slide and
the speakers position is in front of the slide. The teacher asks the students if they
are ready and the students say yes then, the teacher gives a picture about job in
front of the speaker.
The speaker describes about the people with related with the job and the listener
identifies and guesses who is meant by the speaker. After the listener identified the
speakers description, the listener says the answer and they change their position
and do the same thing.
The teacher looks for the speaker how does she/he describe the person and how the
listener indentifies what the speaker said.
5. Teaching Aids and Other Resources
For this teaching aids and the other resources include laptop, pictures, teaching material
which includes book, bold marker and paper.

6. Possible Problems
The possible problems that will occur during the activity are
The students difficult to understand the instructions that have given by the teacher.
The students difficult to describe the pictures by speaking because of the limited
vocabulary.
To solve these problems, the teacher will use these ways;
The teacher gives the brief explanation about the activity and asking the students if
they do not understand and also give the example to make them easier to
understand.
The teacher asks the students to describe the pictures based on the clothes,
locations, stuff that always they bring and so on. So, it will make them easier as the
speaker to describe the person in the picture.

7. Homework
Based on the activity, the teacher gives homework to the students by memorizing the
descriptions in this case, they have to remember what they have heard as a listener. They
have to tell about the job in front of the class in next meeting.

8. Evaluation
To measure the students progress in speaking and listening can be administered by
practicing and do activities that will make the students easier to understand. The result of
this lesson plan will be observed whether this plan is effective or make another plan.
