INTRODUCTION
Dabur (Dabur India Ltd.) (derived from Daktar Burman) is India's largest
Ayurvedic medicine & natural consumer products manufacturer. Dabur was
founded in 1884 by SK Burman, a physician in West Bengal, to produce and
dispense Ayurvedic medicines. Burman designed Ayurvedic medication for
diseases such as cholera and malaria. The company forayed into Personal Care
category in 1940s with the launch of Dabur Amla hair oil.

Dabur demerged its Pharma business in 2003[6] and hived it off into a separate
company, Dabur Pharma Ltd. German company Fresenius SE bought a 73.27%
equity stake in Dabur Pharma in June 2008 at Rs 76.50 a share. The German
company had also purchased another 17.62% shares from the market through an
open offer at the same price.

Dabur's Healthcare Division has over 260 products for treating a range of
ailments and body conditions, from from common cold to chronic paralysis.
Dabur International, a fully owned subsidiary of Dabur India formerly held
shares in the UAE based Weikfield International, which it sold in June 2012.

Dabur India Ltd is one of Indias leading FMCG Companies with Revenues of
over Rs 7,680 Crore & Market Capitalisation of over Rs 48,800 Crore. Building
on a legacy of quality and experience of over 133 years, Dabur is today Indias
Most Trusted Name and the Worlds Largest Ayurvedic and Natural Health Care
Company.

Financial Risk Management :


Market Risk
The company manages market risk through a risk management committee
engaged in ,inter alia, evaluation and identification of risk factors with the object
of governing/mitigating them according to companys objective and declared
policies in specific context of impact thereof on various segments of financial
instruments.

Interest rate risk


The company is not exposed to any significant interest rate risk as at the
reporting dates.
Foreign Currency Risk
The company operates internationally with transactions entered into several
currencies. Consequently the company is exposed to foreign exchange risk
towards honouring of export/import commitments
Management evaluates exchange rate exposure in this connection in terms if its
established risk management policies which includes the use of derivatives like
foreign exchange forward contracts to hedge risk of exposure in foreign
currency.
