Objectives

Being able to detect any obstacles and also the obstacles distance ahead and behind the
RC car using radar

Methodology

Bluetooth controlled RC Car with radar is an Arduino based wherein Arduino


microcontroller was programmed with Arduino software and controlled by Android
mobile phone via Bluetooth device. Bluetooth controlled car can control the direction
using up and down arrow buttons, and gesture. By pressing the button in android phone
to control the car in forward, backward, left or right directions. Android phone is used as
transmitting device while Bluetooth module is place in RC car as receiver. Android
phone will transmit commands using the in-built Bluetooth placed in RC car so that it
will move to the required direction like moving forward, reverse, turning left, turning
right and stop. By means of radar using ultrasonic sensor it serves to sense the obstacles.

Data and Result

In this project the RC car with moving left right steering feature. This car has two pairs of
dc motors in its front and rear side. Front side motor is used for giving direction to car
means turning left or right side. And rear side motor is used for driving the car in
forward and backward direction. A Bluetooth module is used to receive command from
android phone and also the Arduino UNO is used for controlling the whole system.
Bluetooth controlled RC car moves according to button touched in the android
Bluetooth mobile app. When we touch forward button in Bluetooth controller app then
car start moving in forward direction and moving continues forward until next command
comes. When we touch backward button in Bluetooth controller app then car start
moving in reverse direction and moving continues reverse until next command comes.

When pressing left button in Bluetooth controller app the car start moving in left
direction and the movement continue as left until next command comes. In this condition
front side motor turns front side wheels in left direction and rear motor runs in forward
direction. When pressing the right button in Bluetooth controller app the car start
moving in right direction and the movement continue as right until next command
comes. In this condition front side motor turns front side wheels in right direction and
rear motor runs in forward direction. And by pressing stop button the car will stop. The
ultrasonic and servo motor were attached in the RC car could detect the obstacle along
the way and if there is something detected the data is processed and sent to the laptop.

Conclusion and Recommendation

This project could be improved and make some adjustment. Bluetooth controlled RC car
is not a wireless device and make this project as a wireless device and specify the
maximum range. The project is controlled by the Bluetooth and it could be controlled by
the voice controlled application. The Bluetooth controlled RC car can be upgraded into a
drone that can drive around anywhere on the ground and take off into flight from
anywhere using the 4 blades connected to each corner of the car.
