1.0 Create Tables


1. Add shapefile: soils.shp (have location, data and attributes) LC soils open attribute
table or property symbology Value field: Soil_type Add All Values Apply
2. Catalog LC folder New dbaseTable LC dbaseTable Properties
General, table name: SoilProps Apply
3. LC dbaseTable (SoilProps) Open top left button Add Field
Name: soil_type;
Type: Long Integer
4. Add field
Name: name;
Type: text; Length: 20
5. Add field
Name: fert_class;
Type: Double;
precision: 10;
scale: 0
6. Add Field
Name: drain_class;
Type: Double;
precision: 10,
scale: 0
7. Editor Start editing Key in relevant data in respective column Save edit Stop edit
8. LC shapefile (soils) Joins and Relates Join 1) Soil type (shapefile); 2) soil_prop
(dbaseTable) OK no (doesnt matter yes or no)
9. LC shapefile (soils) property symbology Value field: fert_class Add All Values
Apply
(Classify the soil into different groups of fertility type)
(Outcome: Classify the shapefile based on the interested property by merging the data)

2.0 Join Tables


1. Add data Shape file, dbaseTable (.dbf)
2. LC RC shapefile Joins and Relates Join
shapefile (same with dbaseTable);
dbaseTable (same with shapefile)
OK no (doesnt matter yes or no)
3. To make the temporary join permanent: LC RC shapefile Data Export data OK

3.0 Select Tables


1. Select shapefile Open Attribute Table Table Options Select by Attribute

1. Select shapefile (still_wet) Open Attribute Table Table Options
Select by Attribute Wet_type=out (get unique Values) Table Options
Add Field
Name: Size;
