MANILA CITY, METRO MANILA –

The Department of Health (DoH) is
advising the public to get rid of stag-
nant water in their surroundings and
other possible mosquito breeding
grounds to prevent the spread of den-
gue fever.

The DoH has raised the warning in

light of its report that dengue cases in

the country have already reached
40,648 from January to July, according to Health secretary Enrique Ona.

Of the total, the highest number of cases were reported from Central Min-
danao (5,259 cases), Western Visayas (4,511), Eastern Visayas (4,086),
CALABARZON (4,034), Southern Mindanao (3,875), Northern Mindanao
(3,603), and the National Capital Region (3,452).

In Metro Manila, most of the cases were from Quezon City (754), Manila
(606), Calookan (372), Navotas (227), and Valenzuela (221).

Based on DoH data, there were already 328 deaths from dengue recorded this
year, up from 293 last year. Outbreaks were also detected in the municipality
of Gasan in Marinduque and Barangay Banica, Lawaan in Roxas City, Capiz.

Dengue, a year-round disease, is more common during rainy days when there
are more potential breeding sites for the female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes
that can transmit the disease to humans.

Literary Welcome New Teachers

Starting this Academic Year 2010-2011, our beloved school
My Best Friend – Love…??? recruits new teachers in addition to the teaching force, here they are

Many people often say that it’s nice to have a best friend. He/she is always
there and willing to protect you. The one who shares a smile and brightens
your day. But can you stake your friendship for the LOVE you want……. Name:

Well this story is for you………..

I am Rochelle; I had a best friend named Ryan. He was my classmate since

Grade three until High school and even up to College. Our parents are also
best of friends so that wherever I was he was still there beside me. I had my
best memories with him. We laugh and cry together all the time. He is truly
someone to rely on. Even at the middle of the night when I need him he
was still there for me. Because of our friendship day I realized that I truly
love her. That I can’t live without him anymore.
Until one day I knew that Ryan joined in a Fraternity. “Why
did you joined in that fraternity?” Nothing? And you’re thinking that you
know what you’re doing? Did you know that it may harm you….?” But he
just walked away and leaves me alone.
After that day Ryan did not go to school anymore. He also stopped texting
me. “Is he alright?” To answer all the questions that bother me I decided to
go in his house. But I did not saw him there. I asked all of his friends but
they also did not know where he is. I really missed my best friend. I missed
Ryan, the guy I confidentially love.
Few days past until …….”Ryan! pssssst…….” But Ryan seems eluding at
me. “What’s wrong with you, Ryan? Why you were eluding at me? And
why you’re not answering all my calls and texts?”

Text Addiction
(a thing to stop)
Nokia, Sony Ericson, BlackBerry, China Phone, My
Phone, Samsung they are some of the popular brands of
cellular phones that most of us use in daily life, what
if you’re so addicted you can’t stop. The recent survey
of the Social Weather Station says 25% of Filipino
youth cannot live without their cellular phones (that’s
1 in 4 person ratio), some (should I say most) of them
text and call till dawn and they did not focus on their
studies.
In relation to our school, even with strict regula-
tion some students still using their CP’s even on class
and the teacher is discussing in front. It is really
hard to resist, isn’t it.
But how can I prevent it? Like any other addiction
CP addiction can be regulated. you personally hide the
phone charger so that if the phone is dead you cant
charge it, this way you can prevent mobile phone use in
school and just look at it after class.
CP’s are not totally bad with proper regulation and
responsible usage you can probably recover from it.
