The first part of completing a Magic Square is understanding what a Magic Square is.

A Magic
Square is a 3x3 square filled with natural numbers (consecutive, even, or multiples of three) in
which each row (up, down, sideways, and diagonal) is equal. Meaning the numbers in the
squares all add up to the same sum.

The numbers below will be used to demonstrate how a Magic Square works:

21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29

The sum of these numbers is 225. The matrix is 3x3, therefore we will divide the sum by 3.
225 / 3 = 75

75 is the Magic Number. The sum of all rows, columns, and diagonals equals 75.
In a 3x3 matrix there are eight combinations of the given numbers that will equal the magic
number. After finding the eight combinations determine the number of times each number is
used in the combinations.

The eight combinations are:

29 + 25 + 21 = 75
29 + 24 + 22 = 75
28 + 25 + 22 = 75
28 + 24 + 23 = 75
28 + 26 + 21 = 75
27 + 25 + 23 = 75
27 + 26 + 22 = 75
26 + 25 + 24 = 75

The number used four times will be in the middle of the matrix. This middle number will be the
first number placed in our Magic Square.

25
Four numbers will be used three times and will go in the corners. The lowest and highest
numbers will be opposite from each other.

The remaining numbers will fit into the spots that are left empty. To check whether they are in
the correct spot just add the three numbers up and if they equal the magic number they are in
the correct spot.
