Actual and Projected School-Going Age Population Caloocan City, 2010 to 2025

Presently, there are 4 elementary schools in Poblacion, which are Caloocan

Central Elementary School, Kaunlaran Elementary School, Grace Park Elementary
School, Caloocan City, and Libis Talisay Elementary School.

Caloocan City Science High School, Tala High School, Caloocan Bethel Christian
School Inc. are the schools providing secondary education in Poblacion.

The continuous increase of families contributes to the probability of classroom

deficit due to the sudden increase in the number of enrolees. Likewise, the K-12 program
that was implemented consequently increase the demand for more classrooms for
incoming high school students.
CRITICAL EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES

Results from the hazard and risks assessment conducted by Greater Metro Manila
Area (GMMA)- READY PROJECT showed that Kaunlaran Elementary School in
Poblacion is highly vulnerable to liquification. Libis Talisay and Caloocan-Central are
located within the barangays identified to be susceptible.

to safe water.

CRITICAL HEALTH FACILITIES

When an emergency occurs, hospitals and health institutions play a critical role
and must be ready to save lives and continue to provide essential health services to the
community.

Based on the number of hospitals and its hazard susceptibility, Caloocan City
Medical Center and other health facilities cannot accommodate the number of person that
will be greatly affected during major calamities. Open spaces may be used as a possible
site of evacuation.

3. Housing / Shelter

Based on the 2010 Census of population and housing (CPH), a total of 331,345
occupied housing units were recorded in Caloocan City. This translates to a ratio of 104
households for every 100 occupied housing units or 4.5 persons per occupied housing
unit. However, almost 20% of the total occupied housing units are rent-free with and
without consent of the lot owners. With an annual growth of 3.30% households, there is
an estimated housing need of 10,000 units annually to meet the standards of 1 household
per housing unit.

Urban blight and slum areas remain to be a major concern in the housing program
of the city government. The lack of access to affordable housing results to the proliferation
of informal settlers and professional squatting.
