At this stage of the research, we point how a

soft set approach for data clustering can be used to select the best clustering
attribute. The result of this study will present useful information for decision
maker in order to make policy concerning theirs people and may potentially give
a recommendation how to design and develop e-government system in
improving public service.

Data mining is the process that include the collection, use historical data to find
regularities, patterns, relationships in large data sets and represent the new
knowledge to make the data understandable [1]. It has been widely used and has
solved many real-life problems [24]. In fact, besides enhancing the method used in
the learning system [5], data mining has also been used in the field of education
to better understand how students learn and identify the settings in which they
learn to improve educational outcomes [6].
One of the popular and viable approach for data mining is using rough set theory.
Rough set theory [7] was first initiated by Professor Zdzislaw Pawlak as
information system i.e. pairs where is the universe of objects, while A is the
set of conditional attributes.

In recent years, it has been successfully applied to knowledge discovery,

information system analysis, artificial intelligence, decision analysis, pattern
recognition, etc. Various real-life applications of rough set theory have shown its
usefulness in many domains, i.e. clustering [811], modeling conflict analysis [12]
with improvement by using soft set theory [13] in terms of computational time,
association rule[14], medical diagnosis [15], [16], supplier and distributor
selection on Supply Chain Management [17], [18], etc.

Knowledge discovery in databases (KDD) is the process of discovering useful

knowledge from a collection of data. This widely used data mining technique is a
process that includes data preparation and selection, data cleansing, incorporating
prior knowledge on data sets and interpreting accurate solutions from the observed
results.

An Aplication of Soft Set for Preference

The
proposed MDDS has been applied to select the best clustering attribute among all
candidates in databases. To find
meaningful clusters from a dataset, clustering attribute is
conducted so that attributes within the clusters made will
have a high correlation or high interdependence to each
other while the attributes in other clusters are less correlated or more
independent.

The results
obtained has potentially contributed to give a recommendation in awarding the final
grade of a course more quickly
and accurately.

The academic performance of the students usually can be evaluated from the Grade
Point Average (GPA) every semester. The main objective of grouping/classifying
students

Grade point average, or GPA, is the most widely used summary of undergraduate
student performance in our educational system

The traditional main objectives of grouping student suffering study anxiety are to
deal with the uncertainty due to design intervention, to conduct a treatment to
reduce anxiety and further to improve students academic performance. To achieve
this objective, certain clustering techniques are also being applied. Clustering a
set of objects into homogeneous classes is an important Data mining operation. The
clustering operation is required in a number of data analysis tasks, such as
unsupervised classification and data summation, as well as segmentation of large
homogeneous data sets into smaller homogeneous subsets that can be easily managed,
separately modeled and analyzed (Huang, 1998). A well-known approach for data
clustering is using rough set theory (Pawlak, 1982, 1991; Pawlak & Skowron, 2007)

Using Variable Precision Rough Set Model, we present how student suffering anxiety
can be grouped. Grouping of such student may potentially contribute to give a
recommendation how to design intervention, to conduct a treatment in order to
reduce anxiety and further to improve students academic performance.
