CADDY BOOK

Welcome to the 2017 Coyote Classic Presented by DGA


3 days of fun, sun, camping, and disc golf. Here are the basic course
rules.

2 meter rule is in effect, always. All asphalt roads and beyond are OB,
and if they have a concrete curb line, then that curb line defines the OB.
Campgrounds are OB, unless indicated.

Drop Zones for lost discs from the tee will be in play on KO Course Holes
5 and 10 and Old Man Course Holes 13, 14, and 18.

Hole 2 (246) Middle position by tree, rocks and beyond OB

Hole 5 (199) Regular hole 14, mandatory left of the marked tree, drop zone next
to mando, asphalt road and beyond OB, walk towards the camp
grounds from here
Hole 6 (277) First Old Man Course hole in campground H
Hole 7 (320) Second Old Man Course hole going down the hill, this hole plays
VERY short and the bushes behind the basket are tough to deal
with, road deep behind the basket OB
Hole 8 (333) Third Old Man Course hole up the hill, asphalt road will play as a
stream and is OB, either side of the road is safe. There is a line
drawn at the top of the road that will end the OB. This will allow for
a safer putting green, the asphalt up the hill from the line is safe
Hole 9 (335) Fourth Old Man Course hole, basket is at the bottom of the ravine
like tunnel OB road POISON OAK ALERT - under the trees down
the right side of the fairway, its leafless, look for smooth vine like
branches, dont touch those

Hole 11 (226) Sixth Old Man Course hole, OB behind the basket past the fence line

THE K.O. COURSE
HOLE 1
Friday - Straight position. Saturday / Sunday- Long left position.
Pro tip: Watch out for the left to right wind that pops up in the afternoon.

Friday - Left around the tree. Saturday / Sunday - Long Behind the bushes. Pro
tip: Use a less stable disc when the tail wind starts blowing in the afternoon.

Friday - Straight. Saturday / Sunday - Left around the oak tree. Pro tip: Tall
people have a disadvantage on this hole, so try to not be tall.

HOLE 4
This hole has a MANDATORY branch that you must throw under. Friday - Straight.
Saturday / Sunday - Long on top of the plateau. Pro tip: Dont miss the mando...
but seriously, you are better off driving a bit short and putting up hill, than
driving long and having a death putt back at the basket, or just ace it.

HOLE 5
Friday - Corner of service roads. Saturday / Sunday - Left at the bottom of
the hill. Pro tip: The righty backhand hyzer line to the right of the first big
tree is the common route for the right middle positions, but be careful of
pulling it too far right into the campgrounds as they are OB. There is a drop
zone on the service road for those that lack the ability to keep track of their
discs.

HOLE 6
ALL ROUNDS - Up the tunnel. Try to avoid the trees and throw hard since
it is uphill. Tee is from the campsites. Its a tunnel shot uphill, with a
make or break putt on the cliff.

HOLE 7
ALL ROUNDS - Down the tunnel. Plays down a couple campsites that are
in bounds. The road and beyond is OB. Avoid going to far right or deep, it
is a bit of a jungle out there.

HOLE 8
ALL ROUNDS - The road, left of road, and beyond the road is OB as well
as campsites up and to the right of the hole. The basket is up and to the
right of the road. Pro tip: You can never throw to far uphill, except when
there is an OB behind the basket, then you can, so dont.

HOLE 9
ALL ROUNDS - The basket is in the straight position. Pro tip: Dont throw too
far on this relatively short downhill hole. Avoid the big tree down on the left
if you want a birdie putt.

This hole also has a drop zone on the service road for errant lost or OB tee
shots. Pro tip: Dont flip your Destroyer/Nuke/Outlaw/Hurricane!

HOLE 11
ALL ROUNDS - Temp hole down the service hole. Campgrounds and Lake
are OB. Please find me if you are able to throw OB on this hole. I will need
a good laugh after my round. Pro tip: This is a good hole to play and then
grab some beverages from your campsite.

ALL ROUNDS - Straight position. Fun Fact: the field to the left of you is an
RC Air strip.

ALL ROUNDS - Straight up hill. Fun Fact: How does a giraffe sleep?
In the wild, giraffes almost never lie down because of vulnerability to
predators. They usually sleep standing, sometimes sitting, and they give
birth standing up. When giraffes sleep, they curl their necks and sleep for
about five minutes at a time, sleeping no more than 30 minutes a day.

ALL ROUNDS - Down the gap. Asphalt road to the right is OB. Fun Fact:
What player has won the most Stanley Cups?
Henri Richard holds the record for playing on the most Stanley Cup
champions, winning 11 times in his career. During Richards 20 years with
the Montreal Canadiens from 1955- 56 to 1974-75, The Pocket Rocket
never played more than four consecutive seasons without earning a new
Stanley Cup ring.

HOLE 16
ALL ROUNDS - Basket is towards Tournament Central - playground and
campsites OB. The curb of the playground is the OB line. Pro tip: Make
friends with the people camping along this hole so you can have access
to their snacks and beverages as you walk by during the round.

Friday - Straight position. Saturday / Sunday - Long left position. Pro tip:
You are better off throwing a bit long when it is in the short position and
putting up at the basket than throwing short and having a death putt down
the hill. The opposite is true for the other two positions.

Watch out for rolling putts. Easy 2 and easier 5 on this steep hill of a hole.
Pro tip: Have a buddy park his car in the parking lot with a cooler full of
beverages.

THE OLD MAN
COURSE
HOLE 1
ALL ROUNDS - play middle position. Without the lake water, there is not much
OB, unless you throw behind yourself. Pro tip: dont throw behind yourself on the
drive to keep it in bounds.

Friday - Middle position by tree. Saturday / Sunday - Long right position.
Pro tip: Throw low and straight for best results.

road. No OB on this hole. The holes play further than they look. Trust me.

beyond OB. I cant stress how important it is too throw straight down the
middle on this hole. The quickest way to a bogey or worse is to clip a tree
early on your drive.

ALL ROUNDS - Straight position. This is a good one! Be sure to say what
up to Justin Lieberman who typically camps nearby. Better yet, stop by and
share your favorite snack or beverage with him.

ALL ROUNDS - by the trash can. Fun Fact: The most famous left-handed golfer
is actually right-handed! As a child, Phil Mickelson mirrored his fathers game
and never looked back. He is known for never using right-handed clubs in his
entire career.

HOLE 8
ALL ROUNDS- Straight up the hill. Road is a river. Fun Fact: For those of you
who are not old timers, Steady Ed invented the Wham-O Pro Model frisbee in
1964, founded the IFA in 1969, the WFC Rose Bowl events in 1974, hired Dan
Stork Roddick in 1975, invented the Disc Pole Hole and created the DGA in
1976. He installed nearly 800 disc golf courses in 20 countries.

ALL ROUNDS - Straight down the hill.Fun Fact: In 1974, Headrick approached
the county of Los Angeles Park and Recreation Department with the idea of a
permanent Disc Golf Course. Sy Greben, Director of the Park Planning Division
saw the potential and Oak Grove Park was selected and approval was given to
install the worlds first Disc Golf Course.

ALL ROUNDS - Up the service road. Fun Fact: The game was formalized when
Headrick invented the first Disc Pole Hole catching device, consisting of
10 chains hanging in a parabolic shape over an upward opening basket, (US
Patent 4,039,189, issued 1975).

HOLE 11
ALL ROUNDS - Straight and short OB behind the fence. Fun Fact: Disc golf is a
rapidly growing sport worldwide, and is the 4th fastest growing sport in United
States, behind MMA, Roller Derby, and Parkour. DGCourseReview.com, which
tracks courses worldwide along with opening dates, shows a rapid increase in
installed permanent courses with an average of more than 400 new courses
added each year between 2007 and 2017. The site lists 6800 courses worldwide
(in May 2017).

HOLE 12
ALL ROUNDS - OB to the right and deep. Fun Fact: To this day, golf is one of
only two sports, along with the javelin throw, to have ever been played on the
moon. Back on February 6, 1971, Apollo 14 member Alan Shepard hit a ball
with a six-iron, swinging one-handed as a result of his pressure suit.

Friday - to the left on the shelf Saturday / Sunday in the oak tree. Am tip:
Dont try to over power your drive during round. You are better off throwing it
short and keeping it on the flat area near the bend in the road so you have
better footing for your second shot up into the oak trees, that is unless you
are one of those ams with freakish power that cant putt, then you are on
your own.

Friday - Straight down hill. Saturday / Sunday - in the rock. Drop zone on the
service road, marked. Day 1 Original position. Day 2&3 on the rock Pro tip:
You will be tempted to unload your bag on this hole. I would advise against
it. Take a selfie instead.

ALL ROUNDS - Short position. No OB, just some pesky poison oak way right
of the basket. Avoid it, you will thank me later. Get your birdie and move on.
This hole is a gift for you during your long weary round. Enjoy it.

Friday - Straight position. Saturday / Sunday - Right position. Tree line to
the left and parking lot OB. Pro tip: Avoid going to far left (OB) or too far
right (poison oak all over the hillside) keep it in the fairway.

HOLE 17
ALL ROUNDS -Straight downhill - parking lot to the right will OB,and road
to the left is OB. There will be a chalked island for the next tee that will
be inbounds, cause rules and stuff.

ALL ROUNDS - Youre teeing from an island with all OB in front of you There
will be a Drop Zone on this hole. If you dont make it inbounds off the tee
(meaning you didnt make to the first bit of land) youll go to the DZ, you
will NOT re-tee. If you land inbounds and go out of bounds you play it like
normal, back to where you and you group decide you went OB.
