Regional Conference 22 ourselves: Are we holding the image of Zeta in the
Great Garden State high and as a paragon of Service
and Sisterhood? Are we the Women that others aspire to imitate, emulate and cele-
brate? When it is ALL said and done, THIS is the very BEST possible time in our
State of New Jersey Sororitys history to be the very BEST that we can possibly be in the very BEST

Greek House Party

The Dedicated Ladies of Alpha Alpha Chi Zeta Chapter and
members of the Monmouth-Ocean County Chapter of the Na-
tional Pan-Hellenic Council hosted its annual Greek House
Party. The event was held on April 22, 2017 at the Hamilton
Banquet Hall in Neptune, New Jersey. Live music, food,
steppers and the guests, both Greek and non-Greek, made the
event a success. This annual event assists the Council with
supplying financial assistance via scholarships to male and
female high school seniors and college students. This years Greek House Party highlighted the Councils fif-
teen years of active community service. Founders of the council were recognized and presented with a certifi-
cate for their boldness and dedication in their pursuit of serving the community. The Dedicated Ladies of
AAXZ continue to make strides in the community and among fellow Greeks with their membership in the
MCOCPHC.
Masquerade Affair
Alpha Alpha Chi Zeta Chapter ended the 2016-2017 fiscal
nd
year with their 2 annual Mas- querade Affair. The affair was
held at the Sheraton Hotel in Eatontown, NJ, where friends,
family and fellow Greeks joined together for a great cause and
a great time! The event was a lively engagement with a DJ,
photo booth, vendors, raffles and a silent auction. This year
the chapter recognized Soror Barbara Cousar, PA State Di-
rector as one of its honorees as well as a local contributor in
the community and presented them with plaques of apprecia-
tion for their individual service. The Masquerade Affair is the
Chapters signature event to raise proceeds for scholar-
ships. Each year the scholarship committee goes above and beyond the chapters goal to provide five young
ladies with a scholarship for the upcoming school year. Only two years in and AAXZ continues to break barri-
ers and set trends amongst their fellow Greeks and lead multiple community driven events.
March for Babies
On May 7, 2017, the ladies of AAXZ marched for babies on the board-
walk of Asbury Park, NJ. With the help of family and friends AAXZ
raised a total of $1,425. Every dollar raised is a lifeline for babies in the
NICU; providing them with the care and treatment they need. March for
Babies gives a fighting chance for every infant. AAXZ joined forces
with the community for a day of walking and fun filled activities, all
while supporting an amazing organization.

Service Matters to Our Youth

Saturday, June 10, 2017 the Archonette and the Amicette Clubs of Omicron Omicron Zeta Chapter concluded
their year with a program in West Deptford. Welcomes were delivered by Amicette President, Destiny Harper;
Archonette President Doshjinira Love and OOZ Chapter President Vanessa Hamilton. This year, the theme for
the youth programs was Service Matters; based on the Sororitys national theme celebrating the Sororitys
century of service.

The ending project for the girls was to showcase their talent. The advisors believed that each entrant had a pas-
sion for something that represented their unique talent. Showcasing this talent becomes a service to the com-
munity and ultimately, the world. The girls performed their talent of choice via a rap of reverence; spoken
word through thought-provoking poetry; unveiling works of a young artist and the precision, poise and move-
ment of dance. The audience, which included several Zetas and Amicae, were very impressed with the young
womens performances.

The Advisors (Soror Baynes and Madeleine Leach) passed out awards for Community Service, Educational
Excellence, Sisterhood and Leadership. Youth Coordinator Sharon Suber announced that each group received
1st place State awards for Z-HOPE. Special acknowledgements went to Induction Speakers Shadaia Leach and
Rapheleita Spence; workshop leaders Denise Poole of Heart 2 Heart Services and Marissa Monroe, Society of
Black Engineers (Dr. Keith Green of Rutgers University) who included the girls in the colleges Black History
programs and to the parents that came each month to help with the girls activities.

Kudos to the Youth Advisors who do an amazing job working with the girls throughout the year.

Welcome to the Sisterhood!
On May 13th, Eta Omicron Zeta welcomed
18 new Sorors into the Glooooorious Gamma Kappa
Chapter at Rutgers University in New Brunswick,
N.J. Zeta is back and in full swing at Rutgers. These
Ladies are representing Zeta in the community!

Dr. Shirley B. Seabrook- Cathie Drive

June 3, 2017 is "Rev. Dr. Shirley B. Seabrook-Cathie Day" in the City
of Plainfield, N.J. via Mayoral Proclamation. What an historic day
for the city of Plainfield, N.J. Our very own Soror, Rev. Dr. Shirley B
Seabrook-Cathie was honored with the renaming of Plainfields
Church Street named after her. The Cathie family, Sorors from Eta
Omicron Zeta and Mayor Adrian Mapp were on hand for this monu-
mental event. What was formerly known as Church Street was un-
veiled and revealed to be Dr. Shirley B. Seabrook-Cathie Drive. It was
incredibly fitting that Mayor Mapp was a part of this historic event as
Soror Rev. Dr. Shirley B. Cathie gave the Invocation at his swearing
in and oath of office ceremony in 2009 when he became Councilman.
Soror Cathie is one of the first members of our electrifying Chapter.

HOZ Health Fair

Plainfield, NJ was covered in a sea of blue and white at our An-
nual Health fair, held in Cedar Brook Park during the Rhythm
and Blues Festival on June 3, 2017. Eta Omicron
Zeta collaborated with the Brothers of Chi Sigma Chapter of Phi
Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and had a successful event. Our Un-
dergraduates from Gamma Kappa Chapter of Rutgers Univer-
sity came out to support as well. It was truly a family affair. We
touched over 100 lives today by helping fami-
lies with grocery gift cards, bike helmets, car seats, free health &
dental care checks and community safety information!

Zeta Day at the Refuge

The Ladies of Eta Omicron Zeta and Gamma
Kappa Chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. enjoyed
Zeta Day at the Refuge with our Sorors and families. We
took a walking tour and learned about swamp and lo-
cal wildlife. Nature is beautiful! Special thanks to our tour
guides at the Great Swamp Wildlife and Observation Center.
