1St Review of the Main Engine Performance Reports for the month of Dec 2011

Dec 2011 Review

As per mail sent on 14th of Dec 2011 to all the vessels, we had sent a new ME performance sheet for
performance reporting.
Some of the vessels did not sent the report citing reasons beyond their control, but from the month of Jan 12,
Please make sure that the Performance reports are sent every month before 25th.
The main intention of asking for the performance report from the vessel is to get the below figures
- FO Consumption
- SFOC
- Engine efficiency
- Engine parameters
But then we have received lot of reports where these data was missing or was not realistic rendering the report
of no use.
Over the last month we have received lot of positive feedback from vessels and now we have attached a new
version of sheet with changes.
At the end of this review, ME Monthly Performance Sheet of all vessels for the month of Dec 11 is attached.
Amendments made to the reporting sheet after review
In the new attached reporting sheet if you click some of the important cells, you will get instructions and
approximate value which is to be entered.
Some of the cells will give an error message if a wrong value is entered.
Errors observed in the report for the month of Dec 11
The most common error found in the report was that the units were not adhered to.
For example most common mistake was for the density which is to be entered in Kg/l, but was entered in Kg/m3
and for Calorific Value which is to be entered in KJ/Kg but was entered in MJ/Kg.
All these errors finally does not give the actual condition of the engine making whole of this process of no use.
It was observed that at times some of the fields were left blank, example flow-meter temperature. Kindly note
that if a temperature gauge is not provided, please use laser gun to record the temperature and in remarks
section make a note of it.
So as to get the engine efficiency, it is very important that the below parameters are entered without fail.
- Flow-meter start hrs (Cell no-S5) - Calorific value (L31)
- Flow-meter end hrs (S6) - Fuel Oil flow-meter temperature (L27)
- Flow-meter start (S7) - Sulphur content (L32)
- Flow-meter end (S8)
- Density (L30)
How to fill up the sheet and important tips .

Should be exactly 2 Hrs

Review of report by the vessel

The vessel should review the report thoroughly before sending it to the office.
If for any reason, any of the readings cannot be taken, then the same should be communicated to office in the
remarks section of the report.
The measuring equipments which are not working to be ordered.
The list of pressure gauges, temperature gauges, sensors, etc which are not working will be made at our end in
office based on your report and same will be forwarded to the Superintendents.

Before sending the reports please make sure that the figures which are finally calculated like the Load, SFOC, FO
Consumption & Engine efficiency are realistic. Example the efficiency cannot be more than 100% neither it can be
5%.
