l- GENERALITIES

This manual provides all the necessary informations

at once for the installation and the use of the lighting
harmonization board, but also for the common and rapid repair
of the board. These operations are realized with usual
equipment available in every laboratory.

2- PRESENTATION OF THE MANUAL

A list of numbers is used for each item.

All these items are treated on different pages, even
when they are very short.

DESCRIPTION - WORKING

1 - GENERALITIES .

The Emergency signals case is able to show the pre-

sence of one or more of 24 principal breaking-downs.
When a breaking-down occurs, two distributer signal
lamps, which are located in the visual field of the pilot and
the copilot, start flashing. One press on a push-button me-
morizes the breaking-down and switches the lamps off.
A disappearance of the breaking-down before recor-
ding switches automatically the lamps off.
When the breaking-down is recorded, its disappea-
rance resets the system for a new detection.

2- GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS .

2.1 - Mechanical (figure 1) .

This system appears in the shape of 'an

anodized aluminium and black-painted case.
The dimensions with cover are:
138 x 125 x 67mm.
The cover is used as seating and ensure the
electrical continuity between the case and the
electrical ground of the helicopter. It is treated with
alodine 1200.
On one face of the case there are a fuse
holder and two connectors of HE302 type that ensure the
electrical connection.
The case weighs 470 grammes.

2.2 - Environment .
-Operating temperature range : -55C to i7O"C
-Storage temperature range : -55C to +85"C

2.3 - Printed circuit .

Support :Epoxy .
Thickness : 1,6 mm .
Material FR4 .
Copper thickness : 35 microns .
Treatment : tinning .
Class 3 .
Protection : varnish .
Dimensions : 99,5 x 94 mm .
Four layers : 2 wires layers .
1 ground layer .
1 supply layer .

3 - WORKING (figure 2) .
3.1 - Presentation .
The system includes :
- A multiplexer .
It addresses one by one the 24 inputs, that
are corresponding each one to a breaking-down.
When a breaking-down occurs, the voltage on
the corresponding input falls from 5 to 0 Volt
down. This voltage will be kept up during all the life
of the breaking-down.

- A counter .
This one controls the multiplexer. It works
in association with the clock.
- A shift register .
It includes 24 memory pockets, each corres-
ponding to one input of the multiplexer.
- A system of breaking-down detection.
It compares the addressed input from mul-
tiplexer with the corresponding pocket of the shift
register.
It stops the clock and lights the signal
lamp in the case of breaking-down.
- A breaking-down storage.
This system takes into account the
breaking-down and set the shift register.

3.2 - Detection cycle (figure 3).

If there is no breaking-down, the output of
the multiplexer indicates W 1 W .The system of
breaking-down storage set a H 1 W in the corresponding
pocket of the shift register whatever its previous
content may be.Then the counter validates the next
address on the multiplexer.
If there is a breaking-down, the output of
the multiplexer indicates ' 0 ".The system of
breaking-down storage checks the output of the shift
register.If the latter indicates ' 0 ", the breaking-
down is already recorded and the multiplexer passes on
to the next address.

CASE
On the other hand if the register indicates
" 1 ",it means a breaking-down has occured.In such a
case the system of breaking-down detection stops the
clock and flashes the signal lamp.
The press on the push-button controls the
system of breaking-down storage, that set a ' 0 " in
the shift register.
At that time register and multiplexer are
equal. The detection of breaking-downs switches the lamp
off and validates the clock again.

3.3 - Input interface (figure 4).

The inputs U breaking-down ' amount normally
to 28V.The multiplexer of TTL technology accepts only a
voltage of 5V.The adaptation is therefore carried out
thanks to a Zener diode of 5V and a resistor.
A return movement resistor to 28V polarizes
the inputs when they are not wired.
A capacitor ensures the filtering of every
input.

3.4 - General working (fig&e 5).

The used integrated -circuits correspond to
the military standards. An excellent operational relia-
bility and an excellent withstand in temperature can be
obtained with that choice.
Two 28V generators on board feed the emer-
gency signals case.
A fuse protects the circuit in case of
short-circuits on the outside lamps. This fuse is ac-
cessible on the outside.

TESTS AND FAULT LOCATION

1 - TESTS .

1.1 - Testing equipments and ingredients .

* A stabilized power supply 28V-1A.
* A signal lamp 28V-2OOmA.
* A push-button with normally open contact.
* Laboratory cords.
* A test case is available under the reference
SE00726.
Equivalent ingredients or apparatus can be used.

1.2 - Characteristics of testing installations and

measuring methods .
1.2.1 - Preliminary operations .
It will be connected directly to
the Pl and P2 connectors, as' Pl is the
connector of reference :8525 10R 18B32 PNH
and P2 the connector of reference :8525 10R
18B32 PWH.
Connect the first of all on 28V
adjusted power supply.to the case.
The +28V is injected on terminal d
of Pl and P2, the ground on terminal h of Pl
and P2.
Connect the signal lamp to f of Pl
and P2 and to e of Pl and P2.
The push-button is coupled between
g of Pl and P2 and the +28V of power supply.

1.2.2 - Working tests .

To simulate a breaking-down one only
has to connect a ground to a "breaking-down"
input of the system. Then the lamp starts
flashing.
The breaking-down can be memorized
by the press on the push-button.The lamp then
switches off and keeps so even after release
of the push-button.
The system is rearmed when putting
out of circuit the ground of the "breaking-
down" input.
If the same breaking-down occurs
once more, it will be indicated again.

1.2.2 - Check of the protections .

This case includes numerous protec-
tions against the connection errors or the
short-circuits.
The disappearance of a power supply
on Pl and P2 must not spoil the good running
of the system.
More a polarity reversal must not
damage the case.
If the signal lamp is shorted-out,
the 16OmA fuse has to protect the circuit.

INTRODUCTION

1 - GENERALITIES .
The aim of this list of parts is to identify all the
equipment components. This includes :
Introduction
Circuit symbols index
Implantation diagram
Detailed list of parts

2 - USES OF THE DETAILED LIST OF PARTS .

This one gives the list and the illustrations of the pieces
that constitute the considered assembly.
The different pages columns of the list of parts are disposed
as following :
1" column : number of figure and mark.
This column identifies the number of the figure where
the described piece is,as well as the piece mark.
2" column : Designation.
Name given to the piece by the supplier according to
its function.

4" column : Validation.

When a piece is suppressed in a new version the word
"omitted" must be written in this column.
5" column : Quantity for each assembly.
It concerns the number of pieces included in an as-
sembly.

3 - UP TO DATE .

When a mark is altered, added or suppressed it is mentionned

in the right margin with the letter R. In this case the edi-
tion date of the list of parts changes.
