VAL 11- Jesus Christ is My Savior and My Redeemer Testimonies?

Primary Sacrament Meeting Program September 25th 2016
The Garden 5th Ward Primary is a special place! This year in Primary our theme is
I Know the Scripture are True. in the Book of Mormon, second Nephi 4:15 it
says, For my soul delighteth in the scriptures, and my heart pondereth them.
We have learned that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ,
and that it works together with the Bible, Doctrine & Covenants and the Pearl of
Great Price to teach us Heavenly Fathers plan, the mission of Jesus Christ, the
role of prophets, the restoration of the church, and the blessings of the temple.
The primary children would like to share what they have learned in their own
words, and in song. Theyll be singing several songs today. One of them is a song
called, If I Listen with My Heart. I know that if you listen with your heart today
the Holy Ghost will testify to you of the truthfulness of the things you will hear.
SONG Scripture Power
Narrator: Reading the scriptures can bring us power! In Ephesians chapter 6 it
tells us Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole
armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Narrator: The scriptures are the word of God. As we read the scriptures our
testimonies will grow. Even young children can feel closer to Heavenly Father by
having the scriptures read to them.
Sunbeams I love the scriptures because:
Narrator: The scriptures can be powerful and help us to be strong, but they also
bring us peace. The scriptures tell us everything we need to do to return to our
Heavenly Father. If we read them and do what they say, they will lead us back to
our Savior.
Narrator: We can know the scriptures are true by doing three simple things. First
we can search the scriptures by reading them every day. Then we can ponder the
things that we read by thinking about them. Finally, we can pray and ask Heavenly
Father if they are true. The Holy Ghost will give us a special warm feeling inside,
and we will know the things we have read are true. The next song explains how
the scriptures can whisper to our hearts In quiet ways that can fill our souls with
peace.
SONG If I Listen with My Heart
Narrator: Moses 1:39 says, For behold, this is my work and my glory to bring to
pass the immortality and eternal life of man. Heavenly Father has a plan for each
of us. The scriptures teach us where we lived before we came to earth, and what
will happen to us after we die. We know that we are here to be tested. Families
are an important part of Heavenly Fathers plan. If we obey the commandments,
we can be together with our families forever.
CTR 4 Heavenly Fathers Plan
Song; I Will Follow Gods Plan CS 164
Narrator: Heavenly Father speaks to us through prophets. In D&C 1:38 it says,
What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken. . . . Whether by mine own voice or
by the voice of my servants, it is the same. In the scriptures we can read about
prophets like Moses, Daniel, Noah, Alma, and Moroni, and we can follow their
good examples. President Thomas S. Monson is our prophet today. Obeying the
prophet and keeping the commandments can help keep us safe while were here
on earth.
CTR 5 Heavenly Father Speaks to Us through His Prophets
Song: Stand for the Right CS 159
Narrator: Before we came to earth, Jesus Christ was chosen to be our Savior. He
came to earth to show us how to live, and to atone for our sins. We can show our
love for Him by following His example, and by repenting when we do something
wrong. We can read about His life in the scriptures, and try to do the things that
He did while He was on the earth. After Jesus died He was resurrected. This made
it possible for all people to be resurrected too.
Song: Activity Day Girls The Miracle or I Have Faith Friend magazine Oct 2007
Narrator: After Jesus returned to heaven, and all the apostles died, the gospel was
no longer on the earth. There were no prophets left to teach people the gospel of
Jesus Christ. Many years later Joseph Smith had a question about which church to
join. While studying the scriptures he read in James 1:5, If any of you lack
wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not;
and it shall be given him.
Narrator: Joseph went to a special place and prayed. He recorded his experience
in Joseph Smith History 1:17, I saw two personages, whose brightness and glory
defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me,
calling me by name and said, pointing to the other This is my Beloved Son. Hear
Him. Joseph Smith helped restore the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth again.
VAL 10 The Church of Jesus Christ Has Been Restored
Song: Praise to the Man vs 1 & 3 Hymns #27
Narrator: Article of Faith #4 says, We believe the first principles and ordinances
of the gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third,
Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; forth, Laying on of hands for the
gift of the Holy Ghost. If we have faith in Jesus Christ, we will want to keep the
commandments. We can follow His example by being baptized, and receiving the
gift of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost will help us know right from wrong. He will
also help our testimonies grow stronger as we learn more and more about the
gospel.
CTR 7 The First Principles and Ordinances make it possible for me to live with God
again.
Narrator: The Family Proclamation is modern-day scripture. In paragraph 3 of the
proclamation it says, Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples
make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families
to be united eternally. Heavenly Father has always commanded His children to
build temples. Each temple is a house of the Lord. We can go there to make
important covenants or promises with Heavenly Father.
CTR 6 The Temple is a House of God
Song: I Love to See the Temple CS 95
Narrator: Temples are special because they are sacred. We work hard to keep
them clean, and take good care of them. Our bodies are sacred like temples.
In 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 it says, Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and
that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? . . . The temple of God is holy, which
temple ye are.
VAL 9 My Body is a Temple of God
Song: The Lord Gave Me a Temple CS 153
Narrator: Missionaries teach in many areas of the world, but the scriptures tell us
that someday the gospel will be preached in all areas of the world. D&C 133:37,
This gospel shall be preached unto every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and
people.
VAL 9 The Gospel will be preached in all the world
Narrator: There is a primary song called, A Childs Prayer. It asks the question,
Heavenly Father, are you really there, and do you hear and answer every childs
prayer? The answer is Yes! Just like Joseph Smith, when we have questions we
can kneel and pray to Heavenly Father, and He will answer us. You can pray to
Heavenly Father anytime, anywhere.
CTR 4 Prayer is Reverent Communication between God and Me
Song: A Childs Prayer Dev family?
Narrator: We are learning about reverence in primary. Reverence is showing love
and respect for Heavenly Father. In Matthew 22:37 it says, Thou shalt love the
Lord the God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Some
people think reverence is just being quiet. Theres a lot more to reverence than
that. The VAL 8 class will tell us more about reverence.
VAL 8 Reverence is Love and Respect for God
Narrator: All year we have been learning ABOUT the scriptures. But the music,
stories, and feelings in Primary have helped us come closer to KNOWING the
scriptures are true. At the end of the Book of Mormon is a challenge and a
promise from the prophet Moroni. It is found in Moroni 10:4-5 And when ye
shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal
Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a
sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of
it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost
ye may know the truth of all things.
Everyone, young and old, can seek and find a personal testimony of the
scriptures. If we search, ponder, and pray, the spirit will testify to you that the
scriptures are true.
Closing remarks: Bishopric member
Closing song: Search, Ponder and Pray. Primary 1st verse, Congregation and
Primary 2nd verse
