WORKS
HOW IT
This brand new curriculum encourages preteens to take the spiritual leap from Bible information to transformation, as they discover
a lifetime faith. Preteens will go on an adventure through the Bible as they explore who God is and who they are in Him. Students are
encouraged to go beyond the pictures of The Action Bible and into the heart of Gods Word to encounter His grand redemptive story.
Lessons feature videos from The Action Bible, a best-selling picture Bible illustrated by world-renowned artist Sergio Cariello, with more
than one million copies sold. Perfect for churches, homeschool groups, and Christian schools.
In My Life
This weekly resource for each lesson is available for preteens to take with them into their week, with a recap of The God in Action,
Remember It verse, and daily devotions. Also includes information for parents so they can stay on the same page with their preteen.
Includes helpful tips on conversations starters. By providing this resource, the church is supporting parents as they spiritually nurture their
children. In My Life can be sent (postal or email) to parents and/or handed out.
LEADER RESOURCES
Devotions for Leaders
Each week youll find inspiration from a devotional that is related to the theme for the lesson, but at a leaders level. It will help you and your
volunteer leaders personally and/or corporately engage with God and His Word.
Introduces the theme of the lesson and The God In Action statement.
Leads you to various Scripture passages that shed light on this theme
Spurs you on to a time of reflection and assessment through encouragement, and prayer as you prepare your heart to present the lesson to
your students
INVESTIGATE: This is the main part of the lesson. Its time to see an exclusive video from The Action Bible, then
Explore Gods Wordtalk together about what the Bible says and discover who God is. Then preteens put thier
learnings in motion by exploring how these fit into everyday life. (Four activities/discussion starters to choose from
every week, so leaders can flex with time needs and match with areas of student interest.) (About 35 minutes)
MAKE CONNECTIONS: Using the Remember It Verse as a bridge, preteens personalize the connections theyve made
through an activity, a time of reflection, and a time of worship. Its also a time for them to ask questions!
(About 10 minutes)
GO WITH GOD: Leaders personally send each preteen into the week with a blessing that shows who God is and what
he or she means to Him. (About 5 minutes)

JOIN IN
Set the stage for the lesson by introducing the general theme while helping preteens
feel comfortable and building relationships.
JOIN IN is designed to allow preteens and others in the faith community to feel welcome to know that when they come to
church, theyre among friends and community. Within a free-flowing setting that utilizes simple supplies and conversation
starters, JOIN IN gives students and leaders the opportunity to get to know each other better. This section offers questions,
prompts, and simple games for the sake of relationship. After each JOIN IN time, leaders, preteens, and others from the faith
community should be able to say, I know you better.
INVESTIGATE
Preteens learn more about God through prayer, watching a video from The Action Bible,
exploring the Bible, memorizing Scripture in creative ways, and putting in motion what
theyve discovered through various activities to choose from.
WORKS
HOW IT
3-8 minutes in length. Includes sound effects, animation, and a variety of voice talent.
DEVELOPMENTALLY SPEAKING: Preteens can consult reference materials, understand figurative language, and
paraphrase portions of a text. Preteens can analyze text in detail and enjoy the challenge of doing so. Because theyre at a very social
stage in their development, they can engage in a range of discussions and enjoy in-depth discussions with their peers and mentors.
REMEMBER IT VERSE
Each weeks Remember It verse focuses on a character trait of God thats highlighted in the lesson. This section encourages students
to learn and remember the verse through simple games and activities so the seeds of Gods Word can grow in their hearts. You
choose the translation that best fits your group.
PUT IT IN MOTION
Using what theyve discovered in the Bible study, the Remember It Verse, and the God in Action statement, preteens take time to
see how these fit into everyday life through a variety of activities, ranging from a game, science activity, craft, to a service or mission
project, discussion, food creation, or role play. The leader customizes the session during the planning stage by choosing one of four
options (or select a few if time allows). All options include a discussion question or two to help tie discoveries made back to the Bible
study and The God in Action statement. The role of the leader is an encourager while the preteens take the lead.
SPACE FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT: Allow time and space for your students to respond to what God might be speaking to
their hearts. To create space for preteens to hear from and respond to Him, ask them few simple questions:
After all youve seen, heard, and experienced today through Gods Word, what do you know about Him?
How does this make you feel?
What does this mean for your life?
How do you want to respond to God right now?
As you lead preteens through the time to reflect, pause, and ask God to give you the strength and faith to be flexible as you give the
students the space to respond in the way that God leads
WORKS
HOW IT
GO WITH GOD
Leaders send each preteen into the week with a blessing that shows who God is and what they
mean to Him.
This is a time for leaders to speak truth over and into preteens lives. The students have just had the experience of encountering God
and His Word; the idea of the blessing is to bless them and what God is doing in them. Its also important for preteens to understand
the concept that everything that comes from God is a gift to us. As the blessing ends, remind students they can freely share with
others the joy, love, truth, and grace theyve received from God.
To help preteens feel comfortable with the concept of blessings and some may have never been blessed or rarely receive words of
encouragement explain that a prayer is talking to God while a blessing is speaking to a person. Each lesson ends with the biblical
concept of blessing so students leave from the strength of being encouraged and built up with Godly words of life and truth spoken
over them.
There are many ways to physically express a blessing over your preteens and will feel more natural the more you bless. Also, the
more intentional you are about your blessings, the more powerful they will be. Ask your leaders to be sure to model how you
envision the blessing working in your church so your volunteers, students, and parents feel confident doing them.
1 * Check with parents for any food allergies or dietary restrictions preteens may have. L16

We are so glad that your preteen is in our group. Here is a recap of this week:
Note: As you spend time talking with your preteen, be open to questions and struggles your child is
wrestling with. This is a time of life with a lot of changes and pressures. It may be difficult for a preteen
to accept that they can trust God to, through Jesus, help them fight their battles and lead them through
life. You dont have to know all the answers or even any of the answers. Instead, be open and listen to
what your child is saying, and follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit as you talk together.
