 INTRODUCTION

Below is the development of the activity on the product of the company GERDAU
DIACO, company that develops the economic activity of the steel industry,
presenting its line of products, its suppliers and distribution, the characteristic that
present each of these areas and competitive business information with other
companies in the same economic sector.

Gerdau is a leader in the long steel segment in the Americas and one of the leading
suppliers of long specialty steels in the world. In Brazil, it also produces flat steels
and iron ore, activities that are expanding the mix of products offered to the market

Class of the product or service

In Colombia, Gerdau Diaco produces long carbon steels. It has a wide line of
products for the sectors of civil construction and industry. It also offers, associated
with products, services that make its customers more competitive.

PARTS OF THE PRODUCT OR SERVICE

In metallurgy, stainless steel is defined as a steel alloy (with a minimum of 10% to

12% chromium by Mass.) 1 2 note 1 other metals that may contain, for example,
molybdenum and nickel.

Stainless steel is a high corrosion resistant steel, since chromium, or other alloying
metals it contains, has a high affinity for oxygen and reacts with it forming a
passivating layer, thus avoiding the corrosion of iron (pure metals stainless, which
do not react with oxygen are gold and platinum, and of lower purity are called
corrosion resistant, such as those containing phosphorus). However, this layer may
be affected by some acids, resulting in the iron being attacked and oxidized by
intergranular mechanisms or generalized pits. Some types of stainless steel also
contain other alloying elements; the main ones are nickel and molybdenum.
 PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS AND FUNCTIONS

Corrugated Bars

Description: Steel rods with circular section core, continuous length (straight) on
the surface of which are projections called corrugations, obtained by hot rolling.

Corrugated bars have a high yield strength with very good ductility (high elongation
values), high weldability and excellent adhesion to concrete.

Standard of Manufacture:

NTC 2289 (ASTM A706 / A706M)

Applications: the corrugated reinforcing bars are used in the fabrication of

reinforcements of any reinforced concrete element, whether it is emptied on site,
pre-tensioned or pre-molded.

Examples of applications are slabs and walls, beams and columns, retaining walls,
water ponds, buildings at heights, dams, dikes, pavement in general and airports.

Angles

Description: Profile with cross-section in the form of a right angle, hot rolled of
equal wings.
Manufacturing Standard: NTC 1920 (ASTM A36); NTC 1985 G50 (ASTM A572
G50); SAE 1015-1020

Length: 6 meters; 12 meters

Applications: the angle profiles are applied in the construction of light and heavy
metal structures, where the parts are welded or bolted together and are able to
withstand dynamic stresses. example of the application are towers of high tension,
structural elements articulated in use aquitectonic, stereometric plates, cranes,
bodies, parts of car of railroad.

Smooth bars

Description: Plain bars with circular cross section, hot rolled.

Manufacturing Standard: NTC 161

Length: 6 meters.

Applications: Smooth round bars are applied in the manufacture of safety handrails,
tensioners, bolts, nuts, screws, clamps, rivets, chains and industrial applications.
Depending on the grade of the steel, the parts or elements manufactured can be
welded without special procedures if the equivalent carbon is less than 0.48%.

Platinas
Description: Bars with rectangular cross section of smooth surface and hot rolled.

Manufacturing Standard: NTC 1920- ASTM A 36 - SAE 1015.

Applications: the plates are used in the manufacture of safety rails, jaws and pens
for cables, clamps, parts and machine parts; braces welded or bolted to metall
structures, bars, furniture.

Prices

The prices of steel in Colombia depends on many factors such as the price of the
dollar, GDP and the evolution of what is happening in the world related to this
industry.

The Colombian Executive Committee of ANDI Steel producers, said that the
expectations of their behavior also depends on the amount of product imported from
other countries, making this price vary significantly, currently the price does not
exceed 600 Colombian pesos for kilo in profiles of corrugated bars for the
construction, because if it exceeds this price could bring consequences of sales
stalling and provoke the use of imported products.
