Goal: Research about French revolution

Notes:
French revolution began in 1789 and ended in the late 1790s
Ended in late 1790s by the ascension of Napoleon Bonaparte
Whiteman ideas came, then it changed
French people changed their government institution (Monarchy and Feudalism)
Similar as American rev. because of the enlightenment ideas affected people thoughts
The ideas that came in was about freedom.
Many people died.
Background info about French rev.
Kings predecessor left the country which was bankrupted + France involved and took part
with American rev.
Two decades of poor agriculture & price of bread had gone up. (Peasants suffered)
At that time the government was selected by a few groups of people.
The regime imposed heavy taxes.

Reflection: I researched about the brief ideas of French revolution, and I think I did well today,
the information is satisfactory. After Ive looked briefly, I understand the main points of the
event and the cause which made the revolution happened e.g. France had had a bad economic
status for a long time, what caused France to be revolutionized is that the ideas of freedom
came in to peoples head at that time. Moreover, I want to thoroughly know the timeline of
this event, and next time I do the project, Ill look for it.

Goal: Research more and discuss about what weve got.
Notes:
In the fall of 1786, Charles Alexandre de Calonne (1734-1802), came up with a universal land
tax rule which the high classes didnt have to pay taxes.
Later on in 1614, the king constituted the assembly which consisted of France clergy, noble
and middle-class people, and they set up a meeting day, on May 5 th 1789, and they compiled
the lists of grievances (People who dont like how they rule) and sent it to the king.
Aristocrat revolt (1787-1789)
Charles Alexandre de Calonne collected more taxes to lower the deficit value of the country by
collecting peoples more taxes.
People didnt like the way the government collected heavy taxes, so they started to disagree
and revolt back.
Because of many grievances, the Estates generals had a meeting at Versailles on May 5th ,1789.
They were deciding whether they shall count the number of votes by head or Estates.
The National Assembly was constituted, and on June 20 th, they forced the king to give a new
constitutional system, then on July 9th, the National Constituent Assembly was assembled.
The Great Fear of July 1789, Parisian people seized the Bastille, the fortress on the East side of
Paris. It kept prisoners with charged cases, it was the symbol of royal tyranny(Oppression).

Reflection: The research was good, I understand more about the French revolution, and I also
know that this revolution is not a usual one because it gives French people freedom and liberty
rights, which people dont get oppressed anymore. People seized the Bastille, the fortress
which kept prisoners, and they asked for the new constitution system, this event is called the
Great Fear or the Bastille day, it was the day that started the French revolution, and people
had been starting to disagree with the feudal system and monarchy. Furthermore, I discussed
the information with my friend, and we were analyzing the information together, and we got
an Idea for the product which is the main story line of the fiction.

Goal: Research more and more
Notes: The Great Fear led people in other provinces started to rise against their lords, and
most of the lords were frighten
August 4th, 1789 the National Constituent Assembly mad the rule for abolition of the Feudal
government. Then, on August 26 th, it introduced the Declaration of the rights of man and of
the citizen, proclaiming liberty, equality, and right to resist the oppression.
But the king still refuse it didnt agree with people, then on October 5 th, people rose again and
marched to Versailles, they bought the royal family back to the court and continued working
on the new constitution.
The revolution ended in 1799, but the climax was in 1789.
France had always supported America when they were in a war, and they were in debt from
bad economic and helping too much.
On January 21, 1793, King Louis XVI was punished to death by the Guillotine, and his wife was
punished the same nine months later after the king had died.
The bloody Reign of Terror, 10-month period in which many suspected people were killed by
the Guillotine.
The reign of Terror, the period of the French revolution from September 5 th, 1793 to July 27th
,1794 in which about 1400 people were executed from being suspected to be the enemy of
the revolution.
After Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) had ruled France, the country was ruled by military
system, and he had dominated France to be a big country in Europe.
During the 19th century, France had around four eras of revolution which was consisted of:
Napoleonic Era and restoration of monarchy, Second republic (1848-1852), Second empire
(1852-1870), and Third republic (1870-1940).

Reflection: Ive researched to the end of the revolution in which France had many events
occurred during the revolution period. Normal people wanted to have freedom in order to live
peacefully, and the king forced so heavy taxes that citizen couldnt afford, so they started to
rebel because they had heard the ideas of rationalism and enlightenment, which this period
was the period in which these ideas were spread widely and, it was borderless. Later, France
became a republic country which people have equal rights to vote and express their thoughts.

Goal: Working on the product
Reflection: We already got the main plot of the story, and I composed some of the parts of the
story, and It was fun. I think writing makes me enjoy with the story while Im composing it. The
project was being done well, everyone did their job well, and there were no mistakes even
though there were some misunderstanding in between the group, but I feel good to be able to
express what Ive known from researching into a product which is a Fiction story. The back
ground information was not directly used to compose the story, but I included many small
details which are related to the French revolution in the product. I wrote some parts of the
first chapter which is the beginning part, it is the intro and background info to later slowly shift
it to the main plot. I think I worked well today and didnt do anything off task, so the progress
of the product is manageable and controllable. I think that we might need a week or two to
finish and wrap up our product.

Goal: Working on the product
Reflection: The product has been done well, we have about ten chapters to write, and now we
re on chapter 3 to 4 which is the Rationalism and Lockeanism part, so I go back and read more
to make sure that I understand this correctly, and my friend and I talked about how are we
going to put these ideas into the story and still make it run smoothly. So, it ended up that
were going to make these ideas come from different character which have different point of
view because in the story, they all live in a different circumstances and environments.
Therefore, the story is narrated from each of the character views in every chapter. In every
chapter, the story ll be told differently from different perspectives of the character, and
different information form the research will be put into different parts of the product. Today,
we did the project well, but might off task and play a little bit, but the progress is still
improving, and we are planning that were going to check and revise our product every time
we have free time with no home works.

Goal: Discuss and work on our product
Reflection: Lately, weve been working for the completeness of our product, I asked my friend
whos in the same group as mine to read my paragraphs and give an advice or a feed back to
me, which I ll keep improving our paragraphs of a Fiction novel, I received some of my friends
advices that I should write more dialogue on what will the characters talk about something.
This will improve the quality of the product to be more delicate and give a better picture of
what happened during the period which France was revolutionized. My friends, they all wrote
about how are these enlightenment ideas and rationalism come into France and how did it
change peoples thoughts. We also discussed about what are the things that motivated the
main characters to do things in the story, which one of the reason is they got oppressed by the
feudal higher classes. This cause them to feel bad about the constitution, especially when the
government collect heavy taxes to lower the expense value of the country, and they made the
upper classes wasnt affected by these taxation rules then came up with. I wish I could write
more than this next time, and next time well have a talk about the progress of the product
and sharing ideas about how should the story be, and what will be the climax of the story, and
how could we give readers something after they read our story. I might do more research to
make sure that my information is ready to be composed to be a fiction. For overall,
everythings okay, our work has been done fine because we managed the time well, when we
have break, we always eat fast, and quickly go up and work on our projects. We will have finish
our product by next week before the due date, and Ill make sure that we at least check the
product three times before sending it on our E-Portfolio, to make sure that theres no error in
the product.
